Diving and thriving for coaches
The Solutions Focus
We develop your people, taking a proven and pragmatic approach that engenders outstanding performance.
As solution-focused coaches we know that an appreciation of past successes can have a profound impact on our clients' lives.?
Naturally, we encourage our clients to explore these experiences with a focus on how they can make a big difference in the future.?
TIP:?One of the most effective tactics is to invite them to expand upon a moment of success or progress they have enjoyed in the past. But rather than jumping to other moments or experiences – going wider - we?delve deeper into that one moment?and explore the specific actions and mindset that contributed to their success.
For that we need?detail?to uncover the subtle differences that made that moment of success possible. We also encourage our clients to describe how their successes appeared not only to themselves, but also to others.
Specific differences that make a difference.
We can then use this information to identify small steps that can be taken to replicate that success in other areas of their clients' lives.
For example, if someone had a successful presentation at work, we might explore what?specifically?they did differently in their preparation or delivery that made it successful.?
Next time you have a coaching conversation, invite your client or colleague to delve deeper, directing their attention to noticing what factors contributed to their success. We’d love to hear how you get on.
