Diversity Is Key

As leaders, business owners, entrepreneurs, and individuals we are faced with challenges on a daily basis. These challenges can stem from organizational culture, time management, and decision making, to simple miscommunication. Can we gather enough information to paint an accurate picture of the challenge and come to an inclusive and effective solution?
Understanding that we are all divergent, that every person notes different takeaways and retains different information, is critical. When we come to the conclusion that if each one of us takes a certain spectrum of information away from a situation, we realize, it takes each individual perspective to see the whole picture.
"When we’re talking about diversity, it’s not a box to check. It is a reality that should be deeply felt and held and valued by all of us." —Ava DuVernay
Understanding that Diversity Is Key will unleash your team's potential. In order to truly overcome bias and move industries forward, it is crucial that we begin to view diversity, equity, and inclusion as keystones to success.
When stepping into every situation there are five stages of inclusion to take into consideration, for ourselves as well as our peers:
Diversity is the collective of differences and similarities that includes individual and organizational characteristics, values, beliefs, experiences, backgrounds, and behaviors.
Activating that diversity is a process that involves recognizing and engaging differences within the employee and customer base. It equips managers and teams to explore the impact of diversity on perspectives, assumptions, and approaches, and identifies ways to enhance the contribution of all.

Breaking the Ice
Company culture is like an iceberg. Organizational icebergs dictate how a company operates from the bottom up. Just as the tip of an iceberg is visible above the water’s surface, much of company culture goes beyond what is “visible” to most.?
