Diversity?

Would a sign like this be allowed in Trump’s America?

With the dismantling of DEI legislation as it pertains to employment, it is naive to think it will end there. Unchecked, DEI will enact its equivalent in our neighbourhoods and in our community clubs. The Masters will again be for Whites Only and the Granite Club for non-Jews.

Now the claim St. Michael Catholic Academy makes of being diverse is spurious if the school only welcomes Catholics. But assuming its doors are open to all people regardless of faith or gender, then the school has every right to praise diversity. For we can only rightly honour the things we believe in if we practice them ourselves.

The dismantling of DEI legislation is like releasing a cargo box of poisonous snakes onto the passenger decks of the Queen Mary when she’s one day out from shore. There would not be one passenger on that cruise ship immune from being adversely affected - bitten or not.

Putting up signs like WE ARE DIVERSE are the beginning of an antidote.

What is really needed is legislation to reverse the poison Trump’s DEI legislation has released.
