A wide portion of jobseekers believe that Diversity hiring is unfair.
The?2018 Gallup Report?defines ‘Diversity’ as the “full spectrum of human differences.” It refers to unique characteristics in people along the lines of gender, sexual orientations, religious beliefs, age, ethnicities, races, geographical locations, cultures, class, physical abilities, etc.
Diversity in the workplace refers to an organization’s workforce comprising people from different genders, sexual orientations, religions, races, ethnicities, ages, etc.
Diversity can be of many types. For this article, I will be focusing on genders and sexual orientation. Each component of diversity hiring is an essential and increasingly sensitive but crucial concern.
A young and passion driven male connection from my network made a post a few months back that painted a picture of how women, especially college undergraduates, are given an unfair advantage of appearing for "special seats" at premium companies and how they should offer men also an equal chance of appearing for the same position. (quality of language and post on the lines of "Dear recruiters.....")
Needless to say this post was either frustration -driven or made because "Dear Recruiters..." type of posts get a lot of likes and attention.
What makes such a person tick?
Let's start from the start:
1) Diversity and inclusion practices are in place to ensure equal workplace opportunities for EVERYONE. The entire LGBTQIA+ community needs representation and empowerment to make their own chair and tables at any organization. People lack the knowledge and the ability to adjust to this fact. (must watch Lilly Singh's TED talk on making your own table)

2) The common misconception that Diversity means hiring women is prevalent because most people do not have any education/knowledge whatsoever regarding diversity hiring practices. This is why we have dedicated D&I practitioners and hiring experts on TA teams.
3) In our country, opportunity competition is tougher than ever and has always been tough for everyone.
4) We lack feminist advocation in our workplaces and our homes. It isn't a political agenda/propaganda. It is the way of equal opportunity employers/countries as a whole.
5) Grassroot mentalities are limiting.
It is a topic that gets only more sensitive when you go deeper into it's research. It needs attention.
And if you are a hiring manager, setting up recruitment practices, you need to make a big deal out of Diversity and Inclusion.
