Diversity Conferences and Their Impact on Corning
Corning Talent Connect
Our people are the heart of our business, they also help shape the world with inventions that are vital to progress.
As we navigate the dynamic and ever evolving landscape of technology and science, we understand that creating an inclusive environment where diverse voices are not only heard, but also valued and elevated is essential to fostering a culture of progress and innovation. As part of Corning’s commitment to DE&I within STEM, we are proud to participate in various diversity conferences each year, including SWE, NSBE, and SHPE. These different conferences help us engage with diverse communities, exchange ideas, and amplify our collective efforts towards building a more equitable and inclusive future.
For over seventy years, the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) has made waves by providing women with a safe and empowering space to thrive in the engineering industry. They showcase both the challenges and opportunities for women in STEM. Corning has two Employee Resource Groups that are entirely dedicated encouraging success and community for women. Together with SWE, our goal is to not only help to shape the future of engineering, but also support societal changes for women overall. In October 2023, we attended the world’s largest conference for Women in Engineering and Technology, WE23, in Los Angeles, CA and more recently attended SWE Baltimore in March 2024. Established in 1975, NSBE stands as one of the largest student-governed organizations in the United States, dedicated to preserving the aspirations of both students and professionals in STEM. With over 600 chapters and more than 24,000 active global members, NSBE exemplifies their mission: "to increase the number of culturally responsible Black Engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally, and positively impact the community." NSBE's core values align perfectly with Corning’s own Black Employee’s Network . Our partnership with NSBE focuses on uplifting underrepresented voices and promoting equal opportunities for everyone pursuing careers in STEM. We’re proud to have been a part of the 50th National Society of Black Engineers ’ annual conference on March 20-24 in Atlanta, GA.

The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers inspires the Hispanic community to reach their full potential through STEM awareness, access, support, and development. Founded with a mission to benefit lives, SHPE strives to create a future where Hispanics are highly valued and influential as innovators, scientists, mathematicians, and engineers. Corning’s Global Latino Organization shares SHPE's vision, as we recognize Hispanic community’s substantial contributions to the world of STEM. Corning’s partnership with SHPE helps to champion Hispanic professionals in their journey to excel and thrive in the ever-evolving fields of engineering and technology. We look forward to their National Convention this Fall and recently attended the Region 4&7 conference in Miami in April 2024.
Sharing the same passion as our Native American Council , Corning is honored to continue our partnership with The Consortium : an organization striving to address the underrepresentation of African Americans, Hispanic Americans, and Native Americans in business education and management roles. Having participated in their Orientation Program for the past two years, Corning recognizes the invaluable opportunity it provides to connect with motivated MBA students, top-tier MBA member schools, and leading corporations. With a global alumni network of 12,000 members, and over $655 million provided in funding support, The Consortium plays an active role in expanding the diverse talent pipeline, which is essential for the future of global business leadership. From Denver to New Orleans, and now onto Atlanta for this year's event from June 1-5, Corning remains committed to supporting The Consortium's mission.
For Corning, diversity is not just a matter of representation, it’s a core part of our DNA. Teams excel when they incorporate a variety of experiences and perspectives. When we embrace diversity in all its forms, we enhance creativity, drive innovation, and unlock new possibilities for progress and innovation.
