DIVERSION HEADWORKS
Diversion headworks are built across a river to stop the water from flowing and raise the water level. The water is then sent to canals for irrigation and other uses. Over the canals, diversion headworks, which are also called canal headworks, are built. They help control the flow of water into the canals and keep silt and other sediments from getting in. It makes a small body of water called a pond.
