Diversify Your Reviews : Start with Google, but Don't Stop There!

In our previous newsletter, we discussed the importance of Google reviews for your business. But that doesn't mean you should solely rely on Google. Diversification is key to managing your online reputation effectively. Let's talk about why it's crucial to start diversifying your reviews and how many reviews you should aim for.

While Google reviews are essential, you should start diversifying your review presence as soon as possible. Having reviews on multiple platforms can provide a more well-rounded and authentic representation of your business to potential customers. It also helps to mitigate the risks associated with relying too heavily on a single platform.

1.Start with Google

One approach is to set a baseline number of reviews on Google that position you as the market leader in your industry. For example, if you aim to have around 100 reviews on Google, you can start diversifying once you reach that threshold. This allows you to have a solid foundation on Google while also expanding your review presence on other platforms.

2. Diversify Your Review Presence

When it comes to choosing other review sites to diversify, you have several options. Look for platforms that are popular and relevant to your industry. Platforms like Yelp, Amazon, TripAdvisor, and industry-specific review sites can be great choices. Conduct research on these platforms to learn more about their audience, features, and benefits for your business.

Diversifying your reviews on multiple platforms also allows potential customers to get a more comprehensive view of your business from different perspectives. It can also help you better understand your customers' feedback and preferences across different platforms.

Remember, the goal is not to abandon Google reviews, but rather to complement them with reviews from other platforms. Regularly monitor and respond to reviews on all platforms to show your commitment to customer satisfaction and engagement.

3. Analyse Competitors' Review Presence

Don't just focus on your own brand, but also keep an eye on your competitors. Analyse their review presence on various platforms to identify the sites where they have a strong presence. This can give you insights into the platforms that Google views as important for your industry. By analysing your competitors' review strategy, you can make informed decisions on which platforms to prioritize and improve your own review management strategy.

4. Consistently Ask for Reviews

Review management is an ongoing process, and it's essential to consistently ask for reviews from satisfied customers. Make it easy for customers to leave reviews by providing direct links or buttons to review sites. Rotate through different review sites to diversify your reviews and gain a wider online presence. Don't forget to keep asking for reviews on Google as well, as it remains a prominent platform for online reviews and will give you a massive SEO boost.

Summary:

  1. Start with Google. Make sure that you are competitive with the rest of your competitors there in terms of number of reviews on Google. Aim for at least a 100 review Gap on your competitors.
  2. Start diversifying. Once you hit the 100 Google Review milestone, aim to get 10 -20 reviews on other review platforms. You want to find sites by doing keyword searches, you want to find sites by doing branded searches.
  3. Don’t just stop at your own brand, look at competitors and see what other sites are showing up there. Those of the sites that Google thinks are important.
  4. Make sure that you continue to ask for reviews, rotate through them, and ask for reviews on Google as well.
