Diversify Newsletter: March 2023
Hi everyone,
In March, we are celebrating Women’s History Month as well as International Women’s Day on March 8.
So this month, we invite you to think about the contributions and achievements of women throughout history and in the present. While celebrating the accomplishments and successes of women’s movements across the globe, we must also remember that this progress did not come easy. If anything, the progress we’ve made so far is proof of what we can achieve if we continue to fight collectively for all women.
We also invite you to think about all the hardships, injustices and discrimination women have had to overcome and still continue to face in a world that is largely patriarchal and remember that while we’ve come far, there is still so much that needs to change.
Most importantly, we invite you to reflect on and consider all the intersecting identities that women carry and how the impact of gender, race, religion, age and class create varying degrees of privilege or discrimination.
That is why in this month’s edition of our Diversity and Inclusion in the Workplace panel discussion, we will be exploring the topic of Intersectionality and Privilege with our very own Chisom Udeze and our friend and founder of Develop Diverse, Jenifer Clausell-Tormos, on March 29th. We assure you that a discussion with these two powerhouses will be honest, insightful and will leave you with much food for thought.
In March, we will also be hosting our first Blaze Inclusion Awards panel discussion this year. These panel discussions will follow the nomination and voting periods for the Blaze Inclusion Awards and will take on important Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Belonging and Justice topics, featuring speakers from 8 Nordic countries. The topic for the first Blaze panel discussion on March 21st is Centering Equity in Nordic Diversity and Inclusion Ambition. It will gather speakers from 5 of the 8 Nordic countries - ?land, Finland, Iceland, Denmark and Sweden. The session will be moderated by Chisom Udeze.
Both these discussions will be held online and are free to attend. For other events and initiatives, please see below.
We hope you have a great month of March and that we see you at some or all of our events!
With Love,
The Diversify Team
