Diversify

I purchase crypto-currency daily. Sometimes it's Bitcoin, sometimes, it's some obscure, unknown coin that has just arrived on the scene. The most important aspect for me is the daily process of investing. I use some common rules for determining if I invest in a cryptocurrency.

1. Make sure the website works
2. Make certain there is active development on the product by checking out the Git commits
3. Find out if the coin is being used to purchase anything IRL
4. See if there is activity on the forums
5. See if the coin is integrated into ShapeShift.io and active on the bigger exchanges
6. Ensure there is a buzz on the forums

Bitcoin will not be the dominant coin forever (although it could take some time to unseat) and cryptocurrency is not going away. Do your due diligence and throw a few bucks into some alternative cryptocurrencies, it will pay off!
