Dive into the empowering world of self-discovery with these 6 confidence-boosting books

Perhaps you've been in the same job for over 10 years and are curious to explore what the job market has to offer. Maybe you feel that you have more potential, but your current employer doesn't provide opportunities for development. You might be investing heavily in yourself, attending courses, and specializing in your field, yet lacking the courage to ask for a salary increase or explore other career opportunities.

Perhaps you've been to a few interviews and received no feedback, leaving you discouraged. Or, maybe you've received negative feedback, further denting your confidence. You might have attended interviews where the offered salary was lower than your current earnings, leading you to believe it's better to stay where you are. Perhaps you are dissatisfied with your current salary and, despite online research, you approach the information with a hint of skepticism.

Regardless of your situation, this article is for you. I aim to highlight a few examples of books that can help boost your self-confidence. Often, I encourage candidate I interact with to be curious and attend interviews, even if they aren't actively seeking career opportunities. However, I encounter refusals due to less pleasant experiences.

I've noticed this trend increasingly among candidates I interact with, prompting me to offer a series of books that personally helped me build confidence. While I'm not a therapist or psychologist, in today's world, recruiters establish at least a brief personal connection with candidates at the end of an interview. Candidates choose to reveal less pleasant work experiences, and I can't remain indifferent, offering a recommendation for the situation.

I consistently emphasize that the concept of an interview has evolved. I propose replacing the term "interview" with "discussion." In fact, the invitations I send to candidates when scheduling a discussion are titled - "Discussion for..."

I'm sorry to hear that many individuals have lost confidence in attending interviews, lost hope for better career opportunities, or even accessing career opportunities within their current companies. I've prepared a list of books that have greatly helped me. These books are available online in PDF format. I've been asked how I find time to read. Have you ever analyzed dead times during a typical day? As an example, I'll mention a dead time: the 45 minutes spent on social media watching amusing cat or dog videos.

Perhaps I don't have time to open a book every day, but I take advantage of the opportunity by accessing audiobooks while in traffic or during a short 30-minute walk. YouTube is generous with free books that we can listen online.

As promised, below is the list of books I recommend for gaining confidence and improving communication skills:

  1. "The Power of Now" by Eckhart Tolle - This book teaches you to live in the present and not be overwhelmed by negative thoughts or the past. ??
  2. "How to Win Friends and Influence People" by Dale Carnegie - A classic self-help book offering practical advice on interacting with people and building confidence in interpersonal relationships. ??
  3. "Mindset: The New Psychology of Success" by Carol S. Dweck - This book explores the concept of mindset and how our perception of our abilities can influence success and self-confidence. ??
  4. "The 5 Second Rule: Transform your Life, Work, and Confidence with Everyday Courage" by Mel Robbins - Mel Robbins provides a simple and practical approach to facing fears and taking swift action to improve your life. ??
  5. "You Are a Badass: How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life" by Jen Sincero - A humorous and motivating book that reminds you that you can achieve great things and are stronger than you think. ??
  6. "The Confidence Gap: A Guide to Overcoming Fear and Self-Doubt" by Russ Harris - Russ Harris addresses how to overcome fears and self-doubt to build confidence. ??

I hope these books will be helpful, and I wish you success on your journey of personal and professional growth! ??
