Listen Up friends!
As we settle into the first week of 2025, I hope this post finds you well and full of optimism for the year ahead. If you’re like many, you might have spent New Year’s Eve jotting down a list of resolutions, determined to make this year “the one” where everything changes. But before you dive headfirst into that new diet or ambitious work schedule, I want to invite you to pause and consider a different approach.
As the author of “Busy Is A Four-Letter Word: A Guide to Achieving More By Doing Less,” I’ve spent years studying why New Year’s resolutions often fail and how we can truly create lasting change in our lives. The problem isn’t you – it’s the way we’ve been taught to think about self-improvement and success.
Let’s start with a common New Year’s ritual: the resolution list. We write down ambitious goals like “lose 20 pounds,” “get promoted,” or “start a side hustle.” These sound great on paper, but they often lead to a cycle of initial enthusiasm followed by burnout and disappointment. Why? Because they’re rooted in the myth that more effort, more work, and more “busy” will lead to success.
But here’s the truth: being busy doesn’t equal being productive or successful. In fact, it often leads to the opposite – stress, burnout, and a sense of never quite measuring up.
So, what’s the alternative? I’d like to introduce you to a new way of thinking about personal and professional growth – one that’s at the core of my book and the upcoming virtual coffee jam session on January 7th powered by DonorPerfect.
Instead of making resolutions, I propose we focus on creating rituals. Rituals are small, consistent actions that align with our values and long-term goals. They’re not about drastic changes but about gradual, sustainable shifts in how we approach our days.
Let me share with you my 5-star wellness plan, which forms the foundation of this new approach:
1. Mindful Mornings: Begin each day with intention. Instead of immediately checking emails or social media, take 10 minutes for meditation, journaling, or simply enjoying your coffee in silence. This sets a tone of calm and focus for the day ahead.
2. Purposeful Planning: Rather than creating an endless to-do list, identify the three most important tasks for each day. This helps you focus on what truly matters and avoid the trap of busy work.
3. Energy Management: Recognize that not all hours are created equal. Identify your peak productivity times and schedule your most important or challenging tasks during these periods. This might mean shifting your work hours or rearranging your daily routine.
4. Boundary Setting: Learn to say no to commitments that don’t align with your goals or values. This isn’t about being selfish; it’s about being intentional with your time and energy.
5. Reflective Evenings: End each day with a brief reflection. What went well? What could be improved? What are you grateful for? This practice helps you stay aligned with your goals and appreciate your progress.
These rituals might seem simple, but they’re powerful. They shift your focus from external measures of success to internal alignment and fulfillment. They help you achieve more by doing less – by being more intentional and focused in your actions.
As we embark on this new year, I invite you to join me in embracing this new approach. Let’s move away from the pressure of resolutions and towards the power of rituals. Let’s redefine what success looks like on our own terms.

If this resonates with you, I have an exciting opportunity. On January 7th, I’m hosting a virtual coffee jam session to celebrate the release of “Busy Is A Four-Letter Word.” This isn’t just a book launch – it’s a chance for us to come together, share our experiences, and start the year with a fresh perspective on productivity and success.
During this session, we’ll:
? Dive deeper into the 5-star wellness plan and how to implement it in your life
? Discuss common obstacles to change and strategies to overcome them
? Share success stories and learn from each other’s experiences
? Explore how to create a personalized plan for achieving more by doing less in 2025
This event is about more than just my book – it’s about creating a community of like-minded individuals who are ready to break free from the ‘busy’ trap and embrace a more fulfilling way of life.
Remember, true change doesn’t happen overnight or because the calendar flips to a new year. It happens through consistent, intentional actions aligned with our deepest values and aspirations. Let’s make 2025 the year we stop chasing busy and start embracing true success – however we choose to define it.
I look forward to seeing you on January 7th and embarking on this journey together.
Here’s to a year of doing less and achieving more,
Kishshana

1 个月I especially liked your point about"e ergy management." It's a much more helpful phrase than "time management" and the way you describe it is much more about self-care.
