Disturbing Trends

Both here and elsewhere as it turns out. Social media being the fluid thing that it is, and my need to be relevant in the 21st Century and beyond has allowed me to notice things.

  • I'm being endorsed by people I don't know
  • I'm being included in conversations for no reason, AND
  • These things will not stop anytime soon

In no particular order I shall expand on the above. LinkedIn? is not even the main culprit, however I feel I have the biggest audience here that will respect the above opinions which are mine, and quite possibly yours too.

I don't believe that a blanket conversation started here that includes more than let's say five people will have any long term effect other than to annoy those that weren't around for the original start of the topic in question. Just because I'm in a group that we share doesn't mean that I'm even remotely interested in talking about whatever it is that you're selling. At the same time, to get me to participate by endorsing me first without having worked with me is quite possibly disingenuous as well.

Now I may have alienated several of you that might read this, however I'm hoping that those that I've recently connected with will understand that I'm quite possibly not going to buy anything from you.

At the same time, I'm okay if you don't donate to my non-profit as well. Who was it that said, "I'm just here so I don't get fined.", over and over again? I believe this is what's currently happening in all of social media, and not just here.

I may get this opinion published elsewhere first, therefore if you see it elsewhere, please leave a comment below. Thanks for your time, until next time when I'll ask for more of yours again.

Sad to see you build a wall of isolation. Netwtakes time. Sales and marketing take time. Building a network of professional connections also takes effort. If you don’t choose to play this game, please don’t complain to those of us who do see results. Why should I accept your invitation if you plan to bum me out. Either get on or get off this boat. But please don’t get on then complain it’s too much effort.
