Distraction: Something which prevents the giving of full attention to something else.

Attention: ?Concentration of awareness to the exclusion of other stimuli.

Compendium: A concise yet comprehensive collection of information on a specific subject. It typically summarizes and organizes essential details, often in a format that is accessible and easy to use. Compendiums can include summaries, key facts, and references, and are designed to provide a thorough overview without delving into the exhaustive detail of a full-length treatise or book.

The Presumptive Position of this Compendium is “Attention is Good Attention” and that which is “Not Good Attention is Distraction”. Otherwise, Distraction and Attention would be equal counterparts. And they are clearly not.

Distraction. Not really a killer, however, it is probably the single greatest influencer concerning quality of life; personal, business, and overall health and happiness. Distraction is a disease. It manifests, metastasizes, and spreads not just in your environment and world, but also to those around you. Health and wellness checks should include an evaluation of distraction. The disharmony that it reaps is catastrophic.?

Pay Attention. Attention is the cognitive process of selectively focusing on specific information while ignoring other unnecessary or irrelevant stimuli. It is the power and process of concentrating on specific tasks, stimuli or information more intensely. Attention may be spent in any way, but not in all ways, which makes it invaluable. Similar to currency, its scarcity makes it prized.?

Pay Attention. Otherwise, you are Paying Distraction. News, Random Opinion, Smartphones, Noise, Internal Voices, Social Media, Useless Worry, Baseless Fear.?

Attention and Distraction are opposite aspects of Cognitive Focus.? Each plays a significant role in the interaction with the environment, the performing of tasks, and the processing of information. Moreover, each plays a significant role in LIVING. Quality of Life.

Intentionality

Attention is intentionally choosing focus.?

Distraction is involuntary and often unconscious.?

Performance

Attention enhances focus and productivity.

Distraction creates chaos, inefficiency and errors.

Environment

Attention thrives in an environment of mindfulness, meditation, and harmony.?

Distraction thrives in chaos.

Psyche

Attention leads to mental clarity, internal peace and satisfaction.

Distraction creates cognitive overload, fatigue, and low self-esteem.

Cognitive Processes

Attention engages cognitive processes - analysis, problem-solving, and critical thinking.?

Distraction interrupts flow creating fragmented thoughts and ineffective mental processing.
