The Distracted Hero & The Legend That Never Was

Once upon a time, there was a young man who was faster than a cheetah, smarter than an owl, and stronger than an ox. His abilities were something special that you only heard about in legends.?

In his neighborhood, the kids would stand outside his house wondering what he might be able to do.?

“I bet he is so fast he could outrun the train!”?

“I am sure he could memorize the whole encyclopedia.”

“I think he could jump so high he could touch the street lights!”?

On and on, they would go talking about his exceptional skills and what he might be able to do. However, they never got to see him in action because they boy would not go outside. The neighbors would ask, but he never would come out.?

Eventually, they gave up and stopped asking.?

You see, the boy was afraid to go outside because he was convinced that he wouldn’t be fast enough, smart enough, or strong enough to impress them.

The boy continued to spend his time in his room, all alone, listening to podcasts, reading books about optimization, and journaling about being faster, smarter, and stronger. Upon his death, he was the fastest, smartest, and strongest man that never was.?

Moral of the story:?Use your gifts to make a difference in the world by taking action. Don’t wait for the perfect moment; get out there.
