In today's fast-paced business environment, the allure of disruptive innovation is undeniable. Companies are racing to identify and invest in the next big thing, hoping to outpace competitors and capture new markets. However, this relentless pursuit raises a critical question: Are we focusing too much on disruptive innovation at the expense of sustainable growth? Disruptive innovation can propel companies to new heights, creating entirely new industries and transforming existing ones.
Yet, the obsession with disruption often leads to overlooking the importance of steady, sustainable growth. Balancing the excitement of groundbreaking innovations with the stability of incremental improvements is crucial for long-term success. Focusing solely on disruption can strain resources, alienate loyal customers, and create instability within the organization. On the other hand, sustainable growth strategies emphasise resilience, customer loyalty, and consistent performance, which are essential for weathering economic fluctuations and market changes.
The key is not to choose one over the other but to integrate both approaches into a cohesive strategy. Companies must foster a culture of innovation that encourages risk-taking and experimentation while maintaining a strong foundation built on sustainable practices.

5 个月Thanks for your contribution Olivier Burnouf. I remember one of the statements of late professor Christensen and I quote "disruptive?Innovations are NOT breakthrough technologies that make good products better; rather, they are innovations that make products and services more accessible and affordable, thereby making them available to a larger population.".
That's certainly a thought-provoking point of view! I would only add that many businesses - including (especially?) fintechs - talk about disruption without obviously understanding the concept created by the late Prof. Christensen.
