We started the week with a deep dive into Apollo Global Management and the lawsuit they are currently dealing with. Apollo have been accused of offering stranger-originated life insurance (STOLIs) policies, which are illegal in most markets because they essentially allow firms to benefit from a stranger’s death. We then looked into the battle for AI dominance in China, and the ongoing price war that was sparked by Alibaba slashing prices drastically by up to 97% for some services. Competitors Baidu and ByteDance swiftly responded with similarly aggressive pricing strategies. But who will emerge victorious from this battle for Chinese market share?

Harry Clynch analysed the results of the Indian election, in which incumbent Prime Minister Modi unexpectedly lost his parliamentary majority. Speaking to analysts Harsh Agarwal, Anubhav Sahu, and Nitin Mangal offered their insights on how the results could affect Indian equity and foreign exchange markets:

Adéníyì Mákindé then profiled Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse, looking into his education and previous career before joining Ripple as Chief Operating Officer in 2015.
