Dismantling DEI: Political Efforts Will Not Win

Although there are political efforts threating an end to DEI, of which I will consider a stance against inequity and the ability for companies and organizations to not embrace inclusivity, these efforts mirror political efforts to combat human rights and civil rights. It is age old discrimination and bias. We people of color in general have witnessed and experienced it all of the time the dominant culture came to claim this land.

Political loudmouths and racists, as well as sexists - the lists go on - will try to trample what they fear. But why fear what is human? Why fear what is natural? Why fear what needs to be happening in society when the playing field is far from fair? But that is exactly what gatekeepers and biased politicians want. They do not want us mingling, sharing ideas, fighting for change together. It is a threat to all of they have gained over the years. They do not want us, the collective, transforming what they have built.

All of the tools, the systems, the organizing, the activism will not stop.

All of the protests, the marching, the vigils, the speaking truth to power will not stop.

As long as the good old boys (and women) continue to put up bearers or walls in the way of our progress they will continue to face resistance or taken to task.

We are creating our own narratives, us the just, we the righteous.

Kamala Harris, as a woman, as a woman of color is a threat to all of what they stand for. She is at least a civilized woman who understands the plight of women, the plight of transgender people, that we Black men have had it rough in this country. She is willing to pushback at the very same politics the other presidential candidate represents.

He and all of his supporters, those who think like him, have no wins in this movement to dismantle DEI. Their out-of-date thinking is coming to an end. It serves no purpose in progressive politics as well as in the plight of an empowered people who are becoming more educated and united.

Whether they like it or not DEI is here to stay.

DEI is meant to create the same opportunities for poor white peoplewgo live in the Appalachia of West Virginia and Kentucky as it does for minorities living in subsidized housing of Chicago or NY… DEI is not to promote unqualified people for qualified positions, it is to consider equally and highly qualified people who would not otherwise be overlooked. Perhaps we can all agree that DEI is not designed to nominate, promote, elect totally unqualified minorities like Mark Robinson or Hershal Walker IJS ????

As long as DEI means picking the most qualified for the job or the best attitude and ability to learn the job, if this is what DEI means, picking the best suited human regardless of race, man or woman I'm for it.

While we all hope this to be the case, the blatant genocide of Palestinians and murders of people in the Middle East backed by the USA is broadcast 24/7 on social media and nothing is down about it- can’t help but feeling humanity are doomed.
