disillusionment with conventional “destinations” – defined and delimited by national / geographic “boundaries”

…in which, government "political and economic" intervention distorts the market - the solution: bring in the Network State

The point being made in this article, is that in Contemporary Health Tourism (ht8), as a Network State, the prospective Health Tourist, instead of being pointed to (i.e., being steered towards) “promoted” nationally-bound destinations (i.e., those associated with a specific country / nation), starts by considering options in the Metamarket – which is a borderless "carnival of markets" (i.e., a marketplace) that brings together of the supply side and the buy side in 8 segments (hence the ht8).

See: ?https://www.dhirubhai.net/pulse/bringing-together-supply-side-buy-constantinides-m-d-ph-d-/? .

A nationally-bound (a.k.a. territorially-bound) destination is one that is confined within the borders of a single nation and regarded to be a "limited choice brand" – as opposed to the borderless ht8 Metamarket, the "broad choice brand".

BTW, I have already written about the declining prominence of the nationally-bound Destination - and ascendency of the Provider and Metamarket.

To illustrate this article, on the disillusionment with conventional – state-based (territorially-bound) “destinations” and instead, championing the network-based Borderless Ecosystems (“transnational internet-based network institutions”) – associated with “networked governance”, I used the front cover of the book titled “Networks and States”, by Milton L. Mueller, a paperback edition of which one can buy for $30.00, through Amazon (? https://www.amazon.com/Networks-States-Governance-Information-Revolution/dp/0262518570 ?).

This article should be read in conjunction with the article titled “Contemporary Health Tourism - ht8 - as a Network State (borderless ecosystem)” – the two are “complementary” -? https://www.dhirubhai.net/pulse/online-blockchain-based-decentralized-borderless-konstantinos-uikmf/? .

“Contemporary Health Tourism as a Network State” is the big story.

from “territorially-bound destinations” to “transnational network institutions”

…championing the network-based Borderless Ecosystems – associated with “networked governance”

Those who read what I write will have noticed my disillusionment with conventional “destinations” – defined and delimited by national / geographic “boundaries” – and that I had something else in mind – as a “replacement”.

To understand my disillusionment with conventional destinations and my proposed approach to providing a “remedy”, through network-based Borderless Ecosystems, one can start by reading the titles of the articles listed under the heading “over and above destinations”, further down.

BTW, my “thinking and doing” on “economic ecosystems” is in accord with that of Balaji Srinivasan, a serial tech entrepreneur and venture capitalist who proposed the concept of “Network State”, and who believes that pretty much everything governments currently do, tech can do better.

With Health Tourism being a private sector economic activity, in a free market setting, I am “irked” by the "market-distorting influence" of government "political and economic" intervention (? https://www.dhirubhai.net/pulse/muscling-using-money-politics-influence-konstantinos-piz6f/? ).

the overview effect, in the context of Health Tourism

…from that perspective, destinations and national boundaries become of secondary importance

BTW, Health Tourism Overview Effect refers to the mental clarity which results from considering the Sector in its entirety - and seeing the big picture.

From that perspective, national boundaries become of secondary importance, obsession with "competition" becomes laughable - and the motivation to create the World Health Tourism Economic Network becomes obvious and imperative.

See, if you want:? https://www.dhirubhai.net/pulse/considering-integrated-economic-ecosystem-its-constantine/?

It is because of my disillusionment with the conventional Health Tourism Destination “model” that I am championing the network-based Borderless Ecosystems (“transnational internet-based network institutions”) – associated with “networked governance” – because, everything governments currently do, tech can do better.

“networked governance” refers to a decentralized and collaborative approach to governance that relies on networks and connections between different actors, such as individuals and organizations, and is characterized by:

  • decentralization - power and decision-making are distributed among multiple actors, rather than concentrated in a single authority
  • collaboration - networks of actors work together to achieve common goals and address shared challenges
  • technology-enabled - technology plays a key role in enabling communication, coordination and collaboration among the network members

It is seen as a more responsive and effective form of governance in today's interconnected world.

For sake of completeness – and to fill in the “gaps” – read the article titled “Contemporary Health Tourism - ht8 - as a Network State (borderless ecosystem)” – the two are “complementary” -? https://www.dhirubhai.net/pulse/online-blockchain-based-decentralized-borderless-konstantinos-uikmf/? .

over and above destinations

…at a higher level and exceeding expectations

BTW, “over and above” is a phrase used to emphasize that something is on top of something else.
