Disease knows no borders

Due to regulatory and political hurdles as well as business economics, healthcare access is still not inclusive and just. And in the particular case of life debilitating illnesses, the process for approving a new medicine and its market availability is extremely complex and long lasting, causing patients to needlessly wait and suffer or die.

At Everyone.org, we have been pushing for change since our inception in 2015. Our aim is to find the right partners to enable us to affect global change when it comes to healthcare access for everyone. That is why we are continuously having discussions with committed organisations to try and find a way to work together to improve and increase options for physicians and their patients in underserved situations.?

One such organisation is Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) also known as Doctors Without Borders. Médecins Sans Frontières is an international humanitarian medical non-governmental organisation known for its projects in conflict zones and in countries affected by endemic diseases.?

We recently had the chance to have an inspiring discussion with Aurelien Sigwalt who is a French pharmacist working at Doctors Without Borders (MSF) since 2009. Over the last 12 years, he has been working on many projects in various countries and has seen the huge disparities when it comes to global health access first hand.?

He shared that for the last 30 years, Médecins Sans Frontières was mainly focused on deploying vaccination programs. Nowadays, the focus of the doctors working ‘in the field’ is shifting towards supporting the needs of cancer patients and rare disease patients.?

He explained how doctors who are positioned on the African continent are often lacking crucial medicines they need for their patients with oncological, neurological and rare diseases. Aurelien and the Médecins Sans Frontières organisation are looking for solutions. A platform like TheSocialMedwork can certainly help them in their quest of making potentially life saving medicines available for their doctors in the great work they are doing, wherever they are located around the world.
