About three weeks ago I commented on a great post by Charles Adkins .? I wasn’t able to fully elaborate on this question due to the character limits in Linkedin ;-) or I should learn to do a better job summarizing and saying more with fewer words. In any case, the question stated by Charles was, “A.I. is disrupting standard processes. How do we manage and adapt education and learning for children OR how does it impact teaching?”
I stated this is not a simple question to answer it has many levels & different stakeholders. AI is changing the traditional methods of education and learning. The recent advancements in AI technology have created opportunities for students to use AI tools to complete tasks such as book reports. However, this raises questions about how to manage and adapt education to incorporate AI while also considering the different stakeholders involved. It's a complex issue that requires careful consideration.
As you may have noticed the impact of A.I on learning and education processes have been in the global news quite a lot.
Below are my thoughts:
For Students.
1. It's crucial to ensure equal access to AI tools for all students in their learning process. The current situation is that some students have access to these tools while others do not creating an unequal opportunity.
2. Students should focus on developing important skills such as building confidence and interacting with their peers, rather than relying solely on AI-generated work, answers, or book reports.
3. Students should be transparent and truthful about the extent to which they have used AI in their creations and outputs.
4. Students should recognize that AI cannot replace the importance of learning and practicing essential skills such as debating, presenting, networking, collaboration, social skills, quick thinking, and real-time problem-solving with their peers.

5. Students should be aware that AI should not be used as a means of cheating, taking shortcuts, or substituting for actual hands-on learning experiences
For Teachers
1. Teachers should have the capability to identify and distinguish school assignments completed with the use of AI.
2. It would be beneficial if AI could assist in checking homework and reports, freeing up teachers' time to focus more on teaching.
For Schools and Universities.
The disruption of A.I and technology on standard teaching and learning processes deserve a discussion in the form of a podcast. I suggest a panel with Allie K. Miller , @Ana lorena Fabrega, Jason Calacanis , John Kraski , Mark Cuban , and include [ a Teacher, a Student, and a Director of a school/university].
Would you watch and follow such a Podcast?

1 年Great! ChatGPT AI just passes MBA exam(!) given by a Wharton professor. For several generations educations has the same core curriculum. The world changes inmany ways. Kids spend 3x more time watching their phones than watching their teacher. Now the examinations get Hijacked. There was already a problem that we could not measure creativity, because it's to hard to measure. But the skill to be creative is core. Even top-education exames mostly just test memorizing accourding the Taxonomy of Bloom. More in my Pulse post: https://www.dhirubhai.net/pulse/stop-leven-lang-leren-arnoud-w-berghuis/ I created a Blockchain based model for education that solves theese issues above and nicely integrates with our legacy systems/leaves them all intact. I do seek some partners for launching this new model. Harvey Blom (哈维布鲁姆)
