Discrepancy in pay for Men and Women
One of the primary reasons for which people work is to earn money. While factors like employee benefits and growth are other factors, it is always money at the core. Time and again, we see news about how an actress in her lead film is paid less than the actor who has a more minor role. Or how female anchors are paid less than male anchors. When both have the same KRAs and invest an equal amount of energy in the tasks, why does such a disparity exist then?
The issue of women getting paid less than men is an old one. There are many factors in the wage disparity of both men and women. Stereotypes, market factors, and trends all culminate into one whole thing leading to the disparity of pay between men and women.
Women choose different occupations than men.
It has been seen that the choice of professions mostly made by women worldwide is a factor that has created such a disparity. Professions like that of counsellors and teachers are paid less than that of an engineer.

Social roles
In our society, women are expected to be more devoted to their children than men forcing them to compromise on their career choices. Due to motherhood, many women tend to take up part-time job roles which pay less than a full-time job.
Women make up more jobs in the informal sector
Despite us walking into 2022, women are still employed more in informal sectors forcing them to take precarious jobs where even the job security is less.
Statistics and data also show that men all over the world acquire most of the corporate and institutional jobs than women who acquire 90% of the jobs in the informal sectors. It has to be understood and acknowledged that this disparity can be curbed with favourable policies for women which let them grow.
