The Path Toward Transformation
The path toward transformation doesn’t start with external actions or quick fixes. Deep, meaningful change often comes from experiences that create enough discomfort or pain to push us to do something different, shift our perspectives, and alter our path.
To gain deep insights into personal growth and identity, it's crucial to examine our motivators—our intrinsic 'why.' Understanding the motive behind our desire for change is the first step toward meaningful progress and transformation.
Reflecting on what being our best self entails helps align our actions with our deeper aspirations and goals. When our actions are aligned with our 'why,’ we move with a sense of purpose and direction. We become more engaged in our activities and more resilient in the face of obstacles.
Today, I encourage you to take some time for self-reflection. Dive deep into your motivators, your intrinsic 'why.' Ask yourself, what is it that you really want? Then ask yourself, why do you want it? Keep asking 'why' until you get real, raw, and honest with yourself. This process of self-inquiry might be challenging, but it holds the key to your deepest desires and aspirations.
Scripture for the Soul
Your 'why' is a beautiful gift from God. It's a beacon of light guiding your steps towards a purpose-filled life. Philippians 1:21 says, "And I trust that my life will bring honor to Christ, whether I live or die. For to me, living means living for Christ, and dying is even better. But if I live, I can do more fruitful work for Christ." This verse reminds us that our 'why' is deeply connected to the purpose God has for us.
Embracing Change
Change is challenging. It's hard to let go of familiar faces, favorite places, and old habits. It's like a part of us dies when we decide to change. But being stuck in a cycle of wishing and wanting, without taking any action, is just as hard. It's like we're settling for comfort, but comfort isn't growth. In fact, it's the opposite. It's like a slow death to our hopes, dreams, and desires. As we travel through our journey, it's important to be brave, step out of our comfort zones, and be ready to let go - or let die - parts of our old selves.
To truly embrace our 'why,’ we must be willing to confront the deepest, darkest parts of our lives that we have kept buried. We all have limited capacity, and we've been carrying this weight around. It's time to unpack and sort through each piece, choosing to keep, save, or discard, letting go of what no longer serves you. As you discard the things that no longer serve you, you make room for more of what you really do want in your life.
As we continue on this journey of self-discovery, deepening our faith, and stepping into our purpose, let's do so with intention. We should embrace each lesson and challenge as a stepping stone to our future selves.
Points to Ponder
I encourage you to recall the times you've felt truly alive and fulfilled. What were you doing, and who were you with? What trials and tribulations have you overcome? What beliefs or values have kept you going? Envision your ideal life. How are you making an impact? Who are you with? What are you doing? Focus on the vision and then ask yourself, how does your faith shape this (God-sized) vision?
Our journey isn’t a race to perfection but a path filled with growth and grace. Let’s give thanks for the gift of each new day, which gives us an opportunity to learn, grow, and become a better version of ourselves. By committing to progress, we welcome the transformative power of every small step and begin to live with a heart overflowing with gratitude and self-love.

Spiritual Fitness
In Chapter 16, "Spiritual Fitness," of my book “Chasing Perfection: A Journey to Healing, Fitness, and Self-Love,” I dive deeper into the process of discovering your 'why' through a technique I term "Mind Funneling." To gain more clarity about my 'why,' I had to dig deeper, use mind funneling, and ask, "What's really going on here?" I encourage you to read more about this process, which might assist you in understanding your 'why' on your journey.
You are not alone
Remember, you are not alone on this journey. Let's inspire and uplift one another, sharing our stories and experiences as we navigate this path together. Let's make a pact to support each other in our individual journeys towards self-discovery and self-improvement. In doing so, we create a community that is not just about personal growth but also about shared growth.
I look forward to hearing about your personal 'why' and how it guides you in your journey. In sharing our 'why,’ we inspire others to discover theirs, creating a ripple effect of positive change and growth. So, let's embark on this journey together, sharing our stories and inspiring each other to become our best selves.

Rachel
