Discovering the road ahead with an EV driver journey diagnostic for Charge Point Operators.
My journey at Full Circle CI has always been about bridging gaps, identifying areas for enhancement, creating solutions and working with organisations to improve what they already have.
My experience as a business improvement consultant and an EV driver has helped me recognise the need to address the end user's requirements in developing EV charging solutions.
At Full Circle CI, we’ve drawn insights from the EV driver survey I mentioned last week to develop a diagnostic tool to illuminate the EV driver journey for Charge Point Operators, Charging Solutions companies and stakeholders in EV charging infrastructure projects.
What is the goal, and why is the EV driver's journey so important?
An EV driver should have a seamless charging service from the point they look for the charger to plugging in, paying, and completing a charge.
As many of the 200 EV drivers in our survey responded, this is often not the case, and as we look for increased general public EV adoption, put it this way, and I'm sorry to say it, but they will not put up with a less than 99.999999% service.
We need to meet and exceed all EV driver expectations, ensuring a seamless, efficient, and positive charging experience every time.
What does this diagnostic tool do that Charge Point Operators (CPOs) can't work out for themselves?
The diagnostic tool, which took several months to create, comprises 22 questions covering a variety of areas within the EV driver journey. It identifies the driver's wants and needs, expectations, and pain points.
It's definitely not like marking your own homework. The idea is that the CPO completes the questions in approximately 15 minutes, and the diagnostic does the rest. It is completely independent and without judgment.

What happens at the end of the diagnostic?
All CPOs completing the diagnostic receive a report that examines the overall user experience and allows them to see areas that need enhancement and innovation.
We've already test-driven the diagnostic with a few CPOs who have found the results insightful.
My expertise at Full Circle CI and that of my team is not just about producing the diagnostic as a one-off piece of high-level advice; it's about active collaboration.
We aim to work as partners dedicated to supporting CPOs in making the EV charging experience as seamless and effective as possible.
It's no longer just about examining the ground we're breaking for the chargers we're installing; we need to delve into the journeys of the EV drivers themselves. The diagnostic transforms insights into impactful actions, elevating the EV charging experience to new heights.
Here's the link if you are a CPO or you know any Charge Point Operators or organisations working in EV charging who would benefit from completing the diagnostic. https://bit.ly/3vmADBh
We also have a video that you can watch via this link: https://youtu.be/rYO3aVrExOA
Whoever wishes to fill out the diagnostic with me can book a meeting in advance, and I will be happy to talk you through it. Alternatively, you can go through it yourself and contact me for a follow-up conversation either on MS Teams or via our What’s App business channel.
If you’re interested in chatting about this, please let me know.

7 个月All too often I think end user requirements are forgotten about Liz. Its great that you and the team have developed this tool, and we have to question the integrity of those that choose not to complete it!
So much work has gone into this and it covers such a breadth of areas. I’m reminded of Norway, where, when EV sales really took off, the network was the point of weakness, in that too many new suppliers tried to get on board. The reliability of chargers became quite an issue. Let’s just hope that things like this tool and the diagnostics which accompany it mean we avoid that happening here.
