Before becoming a high-performer, I thought it was normal for a business leader to have an always-growing to-do-list, spend my life in meetings, and do the actual work after hours. I thought it was normal to feel stressed most times, and have to choose between professional and personal priorities. ?
Running a team of 30 people that supported an international operation of 450 others and being involved in multiple projects at once, was challenging in a good way, but also demanding in a negative way.?
?
Yet, I still took everything as that’s how things are supposed to be and just kept going.?Until I couldn’t do that anymore.?Until the overwhelm became paralyzing. Until the magnitude of the things to do crushed me feeling like I was drowning and there was no light in the tunnel no matter how long and hard I worked.
?
I'm not a person who stays forever in situations they're not happy with. So when I decided I had enough, I started looking for a solution. That’s when I found high-performance. Becoming a high performer and establishing a few core high-performance habits changed my life.
I stopped feeling burnt out; started working less and still performed tremendously well in my career. I also started thriving in my personal life no longer trading one for the other. Plus I was accomplishing meaningful tasks that moved me forward each week.?
I started feeling proud and fulfilled while ditching the never-ending to-do-lists, stress and overwhelm. I did so well professionally that the year I left my corporate career to focus full-time on my coaching practice, I would have been promoted again.
?
If I could do that in a multinational corporation, having to answer to my direct boss and multiple other executives with competing demands;?
where some decisions were made for me...
You can do that as a small business owner, the CEO, and the only decision maker.
