Discovering Our Stay at The Westin Maldives Miriandhoo Resort

During our 2024 August Fam trip the second stop on our itinerary was The Westin Maldives Miriandhoo Resort, part of Marriott Bonvoy’s renowned Westin Hotels and Resorts brand. Nestled in the Unesco Biosphere Reserve in Baa Atoll this property is a hidden gem offering a perfect balance of luxury and nature while being excellent value for money.

Welcomed by Nature and Design

Check-in was a breeze. We were greeted with chilled drinks and refreshing towels in a uniquely designed reception area inspired by the head of a whale shark a nod to the marine life surrounding the island. The Westin Maldives has an aesthetic influenced by its Japanese owners and you can find subtle Japanese design elements throughout the resort. From the moment we arrived we felt the serene calmness of the island and as we settled in it became clear that this resort was unlike any other we had experienced.

  • ?Sleep Well

The Westin is known for its well-being concept and one of the six pillars ‘Sleep Well’ immediately stood out. We stayed in a Beach Villa Pool with direct beach access. The villa was a perfect blend of minimalistic design and spacious with a massive heavenly bed that made every night’s sleep incredibly restful. The thoughtful touches such as a lavender balm for relaxation and even an orange juicer contributed to the resort’s wellness ethos.

Our villa was surronded in lush greenery with stunning turquoise waters just steps away. The bathroom was equally impressive featuring a bathtub an outdoor shower and a high-tech sensor operated toilet where the seat cover opens every time we pass by. The domed roof of the villa designed to emulate a turtle shell added a unique touch and helped keep the space naturally cool.

  • ?Eat Well

The resort’s ‘Eat Well’ philosophy is evident across its three dining options. We stayed on a full-board basis enjoying a variety of meals that ranged from healthy dishes to indulgent favourites.

  1. Island Kitchen the main restaurant offered a delightful buffet breakfast and an à la carte menu for lunch and dinner blending Asian and Italian cuisine.
  2. Hawker served up Asian street food with a spicy twist. Dining here meant enjoying lunch with our feet in the sand and gazing at the ocean.
  3. The Pearl my personel favourite, an overwater Japanese restaurant provided an unforgettable dining experience. The Wagyu beef and Sushi were exceptional and the sunset views from here were simply mesmerising.
  4. Sunset Bar?for a relaxing evening, this was the perfect spot to enjoy cocktails while watching the sun dip below the horizon.

We had the chance to experience one of the most iconic Maldivian luxuries – a floating breakfast! Starting the day while enjoying a beautifully arranged tray of fresh tropical fruits, gourmet pastries, exotic juice with morning coffee was simply unforgettable. It was an Instagram worthy moment! The perfect way to celebrate a special occasion or treat yourself while soaking in the sun. Definitely a must-try when visiting the Maldives!

  • Play Well

One of the highlights of our stay was the abundance of activities. Snorkeling in the crystal-clear waters allowed us to witness the vibrant marine life including adorable baby sharks. We also embarked on a sunset dolphin quest watching the dolphins play as the sky lit up in hues of pink and oranges. Whether you're exploring the ocean or relaxing on the beach, there are plenty of ways to stay entertained.

  • ?Feel Well

Well-being goes beyond just rest and the Heavenly Spa truly felt like a sanctuary. We indulged in a couple’s massage in a gorgeous treatment room featuring glass walls with a 180-degree view, the peaceful ambiance and stunning views of the ocean elevated the entire experience. The island itself is lush and untouched offering a true sense of connection with nature. Every evening the sunsets painted the sky with breathtaking colors adding to the overall sense of calm and rejuvenation.

  • ?Move Well

Spread over two floors and surrounded by glass the gym was unlike any I had ever seen. With views of palm trees and the ocean it made exercising feel almost magical.

  • ?Work Well

Though we didn’t work during our stay the resort’s overall environment made it easy to disconnect and recharge. After 3 incredible days we left feeling fully refreshed.

?As we waited for our transfer back to Malé ?either by a 35-minute seaplane or a domestic flight and speedboat we reflected on the amazing moments we had at The Westin Maldives.
