Discovering Dad!!
"A perfect man!!"
"One who had such vast knowledge"
"He always was concerned about people who labored for a livelihood"
"A loving and unassuming gentleman. He was often seen taking a walk late in the evening and had a good word for everyone whom he came across. We will miss him."
Sadly the gentleman who attracted the above epitaphs was my own father.
A man who I knew to be full of love and affection for his family, the man who stood by his family thru thick and thin, the man who held my fingers and led me into the large world.
The person full of life and vitality, brimming with liveliness had been felled low by covid-19.
A person who never missed his constitutional or interacting with the outside world even in the thick of the Covid scare.
To him it was important to carry life as normal even if the world was in panic.
What made him tick, I wonder?
Was it his love for humanity?
Was it his sense of oneness with the larger society?
Was it his refusal to be hemmed down by narrow interests of self and family?
It is strange that all these questions come to my mind when he has crossed over to the great-beyond and as long he was here with us he was just my dad.
It is the imprints left behind that suggest he was much more than just my dad.
My journey of discovery has begun.
I miss my Dad in flesh but his spirit lives on in the acts of love and kindness performed and the relations nurtured.
Very Sad to hear this Athreya .. Stay Strong.. A very touching note indeed and you certainly reflect some of the very same qualities that has been penned down here.. "Certainly Staying Calm while there is panic all around.

4 年Sorry to hear about ur loss Srini.. take care.
I can never forget his ever smiling face, the way he use to mingle with people around the area, and his passion for music. One day I spent couple of hours with him and he shared his collections with so much enthusiasm...
Sorry for your loss. Remarkable gentleman!
