Unlock the secrets to finding the perfect sales book tailored to your needs with expert insights.
Choosing the Best Sales Books on LinkedIn
On the best social media platform for professionals, LinkedIn, you will find people that recommend a sales book, describing the book as the best sales book. A minute or two later, you will see a tsunami of comments, each providing another sales book, each person suggesting that the book they added is the best sales book. In a short period of time, the comments will have transformed into a list of books that would require you to spend the rest of the year reading them.
Personal Sales Book Collections
Not only do I read sales books, I write sales books. I have two libraries in my home. I have one in my office, and one in the basement. One bookshelf is only sales books. Please allow me to tell you the truth about what is and what isn’t the best sales book.
Attention and Popularity of Sales Books
Some sales books get a lot of attention. Attention can cause you to believe the book is a good book, causing you to buy the book. The fact that the book got attention does not mean it is the right book for you.
Overlooked Yet Valuable Sales Books
Other sales books don’t get near the amount of attention as the previous book above. The book may not register when it comes to attention or sales. The fact that a sales book was not popular is no indication that book isn’t a good book.
Self-Published Sales Books
Some books are self-published. The fact that the author decided to self-publish the sales book instead of working with a publisher tells us little about the value of the book. On my sales shelf, I have a number of self-published books that are outstanding, while others may not be nearly as good.
Books Published by Established Houses
Other books are published by a publishing house, which means the author had more help publishing their book. This is not concrete evidence that the book is good and helpful for the person that buys and reads it. But publishers tend to publish books they believe will do well when it comes to selling books.
Reading to Find the Best Sales Book for You
The only way to know if a sales book is the best sales book for you is to read the book. Even if eleven people comment that it is the best sales book, it may not be the best sales book for you.

Fanatical Prospecting by Jeb Blount
Jeb Blount wrote a book titled Fanatical Prospecting. It is an outstanding book if you need to improve your prospecting results. But if you have no trouble booking meetings, you will not find this book to be the best sales book. But if you do have a prospecting problem, you are likely to identify this book as the best sales book you ever read. Fanatical Prospecting on Amazon
New Sales Simplified by Mike Weinberg
Mike Weinberg wrote a book with the title New Sales Simplified. This is an incredibly helpful book if you need to acquire new clients. Pay attention to the foreword by your humble scribbler here. A lot of people benefited from reading and acting on the strategies Mike provided. But if you have no need to improve your ability to acquire new sales, this might not be the best book for you at this time. New Sales Simplified on Amazon
Unsticking Deals by James Muir
James Muir published a book titled Unsticking Deals: Why Deals Stall, How to Unstick Them, and How to Prevent Sticking in the First Place. I must confess that I wrote the foreword for James. If you find yourself having to chase your clients across time and space, you might find this is the best sales book you have ever read. But, if this isn’t your challenge in B2B sales, it might not be your favorite sales book. Unsticking Deals on Amazon
Learning to Love Selling by Mark Cox
Mark Cox recently published Learning to Love Selling. This is a playbook with practical tools and strategies to help you master the art of selling. If you need a book like this one, you may tell others that it is the best sales book. But if you have a playbook that is working for you, this book may not be the best sales book you have ever read. The best sales book for you is the one you will read and act on. No matter what others are reading should not cause to read what others are reading. If you continue to read, you are likely to find you have a lot of favorites.

3 个月Such a true article. What resonated for you will be different for others. A few of my favorites: "Sales EQ" by Jeb Blount, The sales book that started it all for me, "Advanced Selling Strategies" by Brian Tracy, and a book that can be directly correlated to sales, "Unreasonable Hospitality" by Will Guidara.
