If you're like me, it took some time to find which career path was right for you. I am thankful for all the experiences that I have had because they all have contributed to the man I am becoming, not only personally but professionally as well. I do, however, wish I had been introduced to YouScience? years ago.
YouScience? is a really good tool that helps with identifying your aptitudes, interests, strengths, and career matches that are a fit for you. Through a series of aptitude tests, you're able to take a deep dive into career options based on your results. These results will help you to realize skills and strengths you may not have given attention to and help you to pursue career paths that you may not have considered.
Comparing my YouScience? results with my internship, it feels good knowing that I am utilizing my main professional strengths and not letting them go to waste. Understanding the responsibilities of a Communication Liaison, there are three key aptitudes that my results showed and I believe they are needed for the very basis of the role.
The first is my interpersonal style, which is an extrovert. The YouScience? aptitude results explained that it is easy for me to meet and interact with several people immediately, speak clearly with anyone at anytime about any topic, and connect people together who have similar interests. This description is spot on with the type of work that I enjoy doing, and I am learning how to communicate better internally and with our clients.

Timeframe orientation was the next primary aptitude shown, and the results were that I am a balanced focuser. One of the highlights in the description that stood out to me the most was that having balanced timeframe orientation is very helpful in jobs requiring relationship building. This ties in perfectly with my current role and internship because relationship building is ongoing and necessary to have internal and external partnerships that are respectful and solid.
The last aptitude to cover is work approach, and my results revealed that liaison is where I stand. This aptitude, liaison, is part of the job title, communication liaison, so it is clearly a very strong and primary skill needed for the role. In my internship, I am learning various ways to present results to others and how to address conflict in tense or stressful situations.
Since uncovering these YouScience? aptitude results and working towards completing this internship, I am growing to be more confident in learning the responsibilities and developing the skills that are common for a communication liaison, which support my current role as a Safety Manager as well. Bridging together being a Safety Manager and learning Communication Liaison duties along with understanding my YouScience? results, my pathway forward has become much clearer.
