Caesarean section use continues to rise globally, now accounting for more than 1 in 5 (21%) of all childbirths. This number is set to continue increasing over the coming decade, with nearly a third (29%) of all births likely to take place by caesarean section by 2030. While a caesarean section can be an essential and lifesaving surgery, it can put women and babies at unnecessary risk of short- and long-term health problems if performed when there is not medical need.

Tell Your Senators Why You Love Assisted Living This Thursday, January 25 at 10:00 am ET, the U.S. Senate Special Committee on Aging will hold a hearing, "Assisted Living Facilities: Understanding Long-Term Care Options for Older Adults." This will be the first hearing the Aging Committee has held in more than twenty-years specifically focused on assisted living. Groundwork Ohio is excited to share The Family Voices Project Report. Parenting is difficult and Ohio’s families are experiencing stress as they navigate many barriers to support their children and themselves. ? ??Nearly 1 in 3 respondents reported experiencing high stress related to parenting. ??Most parents (95%) are working and 27% of single parent reported working more than 1 job. ??Almost 60% of respondents felt that their current child care was not affordable. These barriers limit access to quality health care and early learning experiences for their children, who have increasing unmet behavioral and developmental needs. ??More than 1 in 3 respondents reported difficulty finding child care. ??Nearly 1 in 5 parents reporting missing a well child check up and 20% of parents reported their child was not able to access timely care when they were sick. ??More than 40% of respondents reported that they had concerns about their child’s development and almost half expressed concerns with their child’s behavior.
