A Fresh Look at Vienna: Through the Eyes of a Wheelchair User

The first episode of this new video initiative features Nico Langmann, one of Austria’s top wheelchair tennis players. Despite facing the challenge of paralysis from a young age, Nico has built an impressive sports career, including winning the Austrian National Championship in July 2024. In the video, Nico takes viewers on a tour of Vienna, highlighting the city’s accessibility and inclusive offerings.

From art museums like Albertina modern, with its accessible platforms and elevators, to restaurants like Neni am Prater, Nico showcases how Vienna caters to visitors with mobility challenges. The video series is not only aimed at people with disabilities but also seeks to raise awareness about the importance of accessibility in urban environments.

A Commitment to Accessibility: Vienna's Public Transport

Vienna’s commitment to accessibility extends beyond cultural venues. The Vienna public transport system, Wiener Linien, has been consistently improving its infrastructure to ensure barrier-free access. All metro stations and most tram and bus stops are fully accessible, with ramps, elevators, and automatic boarding ramps on new trains.
