Have you ever heard that your experience can lie to you? Our personal experience can affect us in either starting or growing a business, and it's important to understand that relying solely on experience may not be enough.
For example, let's say you had a grandfather who was full of wisdom and gave you brilliant advice like, "If somebody hits you, you make sure you double up your fist and you hit 'em back, son." Or perhaps he told you to "spend every dime that you got, cuz you never know if you're gonna live this whole life or not." While your grandfather may have meant well, these pieces of advice may not necessarily translate into the real world.
When it comes to launching a new career or growing an existing business, relying on years of experience may not be enough. Here are some examples:
