The Winter Olympics are coming back to Utah! Ogden, Utah is just on the other side of the mountains. ?? Snowbasin Resort is set to host downhill skiing for the 2034 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games, following Salt Lake City’s successful bid to host the Winter Games for the second time. Snowbasin was selected as an official Alpine Skiing venue and will welcome the world’s top athletes to its legendary slopes once again after previously serving as a venue for Downhill, Super-G and as a venue for Downhill, Super-G and combined races.

One of two official films which helped to tell the story of the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games Salt Lake City-Utah 2034, in the presentation to International Olympic Committee Members at the host election in the Palais des Congrès, Paris on 24 July 2024.

Legacy showcases the impact of Utah’s living legacy from the 2002 Winter Games, opening with a drone shot of snow-covered evergreens, with a young girl cross-country skiing through the forest. “In Utah, there’s been a spirit that’s been growing for the last two decades,” says narrator Katherine Heigl, a film and television actor known for her role in Grey’s Anatomy. “You can see it in our kids, who carve through childhood on skis and skates.”

The film speaks to how the Olympic and Paralympic Games from 2002 have formed a cultural connection to sport in Utah – part of the state’s DNA, with athletes from over 30 countries who train in Utah. “The Games left us with more than venues and memories.

The Games re-shaped our culture.” It closes with a welcome back message to the world: “Salt Lake is now, and will forever be, an Olympic City. It’s part of our everyday life, woven into the fabric of every Utahn.” This film was produced by Salt Lake City’s Boncom.
