Welcome to Carma’s monthly newsletter and thank you for taking the time to read this!

We have had an amazing month, working with amazing and passionate businesses who are taking tangible actions in mitigating the impact of climate change. This is in the form of tree planting days, tree commerce and subscriptions.?

We also attended Accountex. This is one of the biggest accounting trade shows, it took place in Excel London. It was amazing to see so many people come together, meet so many new faces and be able to share Carma love to the masses.? We partnered with the event and planted a tree for every attendee. That is 10,000 new trees in the ground which will make positive social and environmental impact.

This is because we plant our trees overseas with the Eden Reforestation Project, which produce, plant and employ people in impoverished communities. All of Eden’s international employees are paid fair wages that have been transformational for their quality of life.?

In the month of May, we planted 19,206 trees and also created 192 workdays of employment! This equates to 5885.4 tonnes of Co2 absorbed from the atmosphere. Fun fact, this is also the equivalent to 423,720 trips from Amsterdam to Paris on the train!

So, what is BCorp? Certified B corporations are companies verified by B Lab to meet high standards of practice. These are social and environmental performance with accountability and transparency.?

Their strategy is rooted in the system of change, they are aiming to redefine the role of businesses within the economic system so each business is a force for good.?

This is so important to us as BCorp reflects our values at Carma, which is why we are actively working towards becoming certified!

Climate tips for businesses:?

• Go digital: It is so easy nowadays to collaborate online. Share documents through cloud storage and video call instead of travelling, you can reduce your waste and emissions. Try moving away from printed documents.?
• Cycle to Work: Cycling and walking are two of the most environmentally friendly ways to travel. They are good for the planet and your health.
• Tree planting days: Take your employees on a team day they will not forget. Businesses can start their own forest and bond whilst doing good, together.
