Where is Taboga Island ?
Things to know about Taboga Island
A few kilometres from the capital of Panama lies Taboga, a paradise island known for its peaceful, quiet land and splendid sandy beaches ??
This island of volcanic origin is also nicknamed "the island of flowers". Do you know why? Simply because of the sweet smells floating in the air when the season is right. And this is often the case, as the tropical plants present on the island take turns to bloom, for a striking result almost all year round, where the pleasure of the sight joins that of the smell ??
You will also find on this island, the oldest cathedral in the entire Western Hemisphere: the church of San Pedro built in 1550 near the coastline! The architectural style allows you to contemplate a charming building from the outside, while the interior opens onto a magnificent, richly decorated altar. ??
Its long, slightly golden sandy beaches, lush green hills and fishy waters help make it a dream destination all year round. In fact, the name Taboga is said to come from a local language, in which it means rich in fish ??
And for the little tip of the aquatic life lovers, leaving from the end of June to the end of October, you can admire humpback whales and dolphins playing in the distance ??
