DAY 1 - EXPLORING COORG TOWN

Begin your Coorg tour known as the Scotland of India. Star your Coorg tour by visiting the Namdroling Monastery unfolded with splendid architecture, also called the Golden Temple. It is situated in Bylakuppe, one of India's largest Tibetan settlements as well as the world's largest teaching centre of the Nyingma lineage of Tibetan Buddhism. The place brings delight and celebration during festivals like the Tibetan New Year (Losar).

You can witness the intricate architecture and serene surroundings while the monks carry out their daily rituals. You can take a short drive from Coorg town to get to the monastery. Later, make your way to Dubare Elephant Camp, located on the banks of the Kaveri River and was once a camp of the Karnataka Forest Department, for a unique experience with these majestic creatures. Participate in activities like elephant bathing and feeding, or opt for an elephant ride through the lush greenery.

After exploring the monastery, return to Coorg town for lunch and indulge in local cuisine at a nearby restaurant. Try dishes like Pandi Curry (pork curry) or Kadambuttu (rice dumplings). You can head to places such as Thaliya, a traditional Kodava restaurant (INR 500 for two) or Hotel Udupi Garden, serving vegan to all non-vegetarian dishes you wish to try (INR 1200 for two). Towards the evening, return to Coorg town and visit Raja's Seat, a popular viewpoint overlooking the hills. Witness a mesmerising sunset as you relax in the tranquil setting. Afterwards, enjoy dinner at Taste of Coorg a local canteen restaurant, savouring more Coorgi specialties.?

NAMDROLING MONASTERY

DAY 2 - NATURE AND ADVENTURE

On your second day, you should visit the Abbey Falls, one of Coorg's most picturesque waterfalls. You can enjoy the place's scenic beauty and take memorable photographs while immersing yourself in nature's tranquillity. After that, you can head to the Madikeri Fort and Museum to delve into the history and culture of the region.

If you want to indulge in soe retail therapy in Madikeri, the place has a lot of local markets and the two most important ones are Kushal Nagar Market and Friday Market. In Kushal Nagar Market you can buy Tibetan artifacts, timber carvings, Sandalwood oil, and silk saris. Friday Market you can shop for all kinds of traditional spices like cinnamon, Cumin Seeds and more. In the afternoon, you can go on a trekking adventure to Mandalpatti.

It is one of the most mesmerizing treks in the region. The place is filled with a vast stretch of green hillside that ends with the most beautiful views of Coorg. It is advisable for the trekkers to keep their own food and equipment since there are hardly any shops available here. The trek will allow you to enjoy breath-taking views of the surrounding hills and valleys. It is located at an altitude of 1,800 metres and overlooks the grasslands of Pushpagiri forests in the Western Ghats. It is also known as "Muguli-peth", which translates to "market of clouds." If you are a photography enthusiast, you will have ample opportunities to capture stunning landscapes.

In the evening, you can witness the breath-taking sunset from Mandalpatti and take in the beauty of nature's canvas. Visit this charming Golden Temple located at Bylakuppe while crossing Kushalnagar (35 km from Madikeri) and etch this glowing house of God in your eyes. By evoking the rich culture and heritage of Buddhism, this tourist site attracts a huge mass of young Tibetans, besides tourists for education and enlightenment. You can even spend some time in the bookstore and the cafe that is inside the Monastery premises. Afterwards, you can return to your accommodation and relax after an adventure-filled day.

MADIKERI FORT AND MUSEUM

DAY 3 - PLANTATION TOUR

Start your day with a plantation tour at one of Coorg's coffee estates. You can head to the expansive TATA plantation site and learn about the process of coffee cultivation and indulge in some freshly brewed coffee straight from the source. You can also hire a local coffee guide who will tell you all about the origin of coffee and the story of how Baba Budan Giri got the seeds in India and started the legacy of rich coffee plantations. TATA's coffee site, you can also check out the pepper plants and witness a massive amount of Mexican avocado being grown.

After the tour, enjoy lunch either at the plantation or back in town, sampling more of Coorg's delicious cuisine. You can head to the Riverside Coffee Estate and the Riverside Cafe, where you can have a hearty lunch, sample more home-grown coffees and take a tour of an independent family-owned coffee plantation.

In the afternoon, visit the Talakaveri Temple, the source of the River Kaveri. It is a pilgrimage site in the Kodagu district and is dedicated to the Goddess Kaveriamma. There is a square tank from where the river Kaveri emerges as spring and then disappears to re-emerge at Nagathirtha to combine with Sujyoti and Kannike river at Triveni Sangam. The place also features a small temple at a height of 1276 meters next to the tank. Explore the temple complex and take in the serene surroundings of this sacred site.

When the sun begins to set, take a stroll through the local markets in the evening and pick up souvenirs and handicrafts to remember your trip. End your day with a traditional Coorgi dinner at Rainforest Retreat, nestled amid of a lush rainforest, Rainforest Retreat offers a unique dining experience in Coorg. The restaurant serves a blend of traditional Coorgi cuisine and international dishes, made with fresh, organic ingredients sourced locally. Dine in the open-air seating area surrounded by verdant greenery, immersing yourself in nature’s embrace.
