Discover Knowledge: Live Your Dreams!
The most things I derive joy from has always been reading, writing, conversing, listening and watching. I’ve never been that person who just fizzles through things without detailed analysis and note taking. From reading, to writing, to conversing, listening and watching; I observe things and not only do I pay attention to details and take notes; I think of ways I can apply what I’ve learnt- because I must pick out at least 5% of a hundred- and it exposes me to the world around and before me.
I read diverse books, watch movies, attend meetups and seminars, write a little about anything, listen to people and messages that inspire me, socialize, attend networking events, travel whenever I can because it all adds up to widen my horizon on different things. I embrace versatility in all forms it comes, but that doesn’t stop me from staying focused on my goals and achieving my dreams.
A lot of people have questioned my actions thousand times and more, but they never understand that man’s wants are insatiable and in the quest to stay updated and relevant, I have to keep discovering and learning something because, there’s always something new to learn daily.
Exposure changes perspectives any time, any day and anywhere. It’s quite pathetic and saddening to see and know that most youths do not read books, articles, magazines and news stories anymore for education and information, but for entertainment. To stay updated and relevant, social media, hangouts and trends if not maximally utilized for a positive purpose will not enhance any form of growth process; rather, lead to total retardation, lack of knowledge, increase low self-esteem and lack of confidence.
Refuse to be a passerby who learns and adds nothing to the society or learns nothing at all. In your field of specialization; discover knowledge. There are people you need to know, speak to and follow; there are things you need to know, apply, change and share; there are places you need to go, be and things you need to do. Ask questions, network, read, engage, go out and learn from both the virtual and physical space. Some people don’t read because they’re book worms and passionate readers, but because there’s knowledge being communicated in those prints- that need to be discovered. The very moment you discover something new and apply it; you’ll want to share and by sharing, you indirectly attract people to you.
You can’t afford to be the same person you were five years ago, a year ago or two weeks back. The more you learn, the more you know and the more you know; the more you grow- feeling fulfilled. Let me introduce to you ways you can live your dreams by simply discovering knowledge.
Dear younger me,
I wish you knew that the soap operas, cartoons, story books, movies, articles, outings, travels and people that occupied your days and time would give you an edge over your peers today, make you a high flyer and help you live your dreams as a result of acquired knowledge and increased exposure. You would have read more, listened more, observed and gone out more; accepting all the criticisms that came your way when they called you a book worm, smart ass, encyclopedia, nerd, freak and so much more because it’s all been summed up to the reason why you’re living your dreams.
Live Your Dreams!
To successfully make your dreams a reality, you must know what you want and knowing what you want is only made possible when you’re vast in knowledge. You can’t make a choice if you don’t have options. You can’t live your dreams if you’re not exposed or know what you want to live for. Knowledge is acquired through what you study, listen to, watch and basically feed on. When you give yourself over to something; eventually, you tend to think, see, live and breathe it. Inspiration has always been drawn from books, webinars, podcasts, songs, videos, and workshops to boost self-confidence, awareness, foster change and enhance growth.
Inevitably, challenges will always spring up on the path to any successful journey. So, if you want to be successful, prepare yourself for challenges that’ll definitely occur- your status quo notwithstanding.
Every time you have a challenge, turn it into a project and in earnest, you’ll realize how fast you’ve developed leadership, analytical and mentoring skills to mention a few. The result however, will not only help you overcome victoriously, but help you learn, get inspired to do more and proudly tag yourself a ‘Project Manager’. Don’t wait until a company needs to hire you; hire yourself for yourself. You’ll only have true happiness and find fulfilment when you’ve impacted the world and lived your dreams. Stay positive! Optimism can be learned.
Ever heard that you are your own competition? – I’ll add to that. Your life is your biggest project- design it! See the big picture, set goals and milestones, draw a map, plot a graph, put up the constraints and success points, develop the necessary skills you’ll need, network, socialize, think, meditate, read, ask questions, observe, write reports, analyze your resources, make plans, organize events, raise funds, reach out, help people go to places, do a lot and make that project work.
You don’t need to have it all together; you only need to move. You don’t need to be knowledgeable enough, skilled enough or capable because you can always start somewhere, acquire knowledge, get skilled up, develop capacity, stretch out and live your dreams. You’ll never know what you can and cannot do except you try doing something. There’s no harm in trying; you’ll either fail or succeed. If you fail, you’ll learn and retry. If you succeed, you’ll be proud you tried.
We are in the knowledge economy. You cannot deliver more than your insight because what you have is what you’ll offer- so, get more insight. Insight is data; data is oxygen. Your insight will affect your output and attitude towards things, people and life generally. Your insight will affect your disposition and restructure your goals.
Limited information = Limited knowledge
Limited Knowledge = Limited opportunities
Limited opportunities = Limited successes
A life without success stories is a life without dreams. Dream big! The more you see, and know; is proportional to the more dreams you’ll have and desire to achieve. As far as your eyes can see…
By all means possible, discover knowledge. Knowledge gives access to be confident, gain command, be in power, stay in authority, have control, stay relevant, be needed, grow, dream and live those dreams. Be thirsty for knowledge. Be hungry for success. Stop living your life without motivation. People may never motivate you and all you’ll need will be a reverse mentoring to motivate yourself for you.
I can’t over emphasize how much you need to read books, attend conferences, listen to audio messages, ask questions and make Google your best friend. In the purpose of finding out more; you can figure out more. What you feed yourself with will eventually glow on you someday- what will it show and say about you? Avoid assumptions because most times, it leads people astray and lands them in catastrophic pitfalls with nothing to grip on. Like an algebra; if you miss one, you miss all. To assume makes an ‘ass’ out of ‘u’ and ‘me’. Ask questions for knowledge and clarity. When you live your dreams; you unconsciously create a following of people who love, value and appreciate you for who you are. At this point, you’ll need to start motivating and encouraging those around you. Support and believe in their dreams even if no one supported nor believed in yours.
#Surgery 3:
Dream that dream, but leave room for growth. The more you get to discover knowledge, the more you’ll get to dream. Information affects expectations and when your expectation changes, your momentum will sporadically alternate. When you’ve known something new, don’t forget to share so others can be encouraged to live their dreams too. Never limit yourself!
