Nowadays, it is hard to imagine a company or service that doesn’t use at least one digital marketing tool in its activities. Digital tools and platforms have become more accessible, affordable, and widely used, and this inevitably increases their role in international development. Donors and various aid organizations are already leveraging these tools to showcase their activities, raise awareness campaigns, and catalyze positive changes across borders. Could digital marketing be an asset beyond the private sector and contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals? Let’s see what DevelopmentAid experts have to say about this.
In sub-Saharan Africa (SSA), agriculture has traditionally been perceived to be an unsophisticated sector with an image of an old farmer in tattered clothes digging with a hoe. That stereotype has mainly been perpetuated through formal education and, as a result, the sector has had minimal appeal to innovators or youth. In Kenya for instance, according to the 2009 census, the average age of a farmer was over 60 years.
Among the largest agencies in the international development sector is the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). Operating in more than 150 countries, JICA’s main goal is to foster socio-economic development through project implementation in sectors such as infrastructure, health, education, agriculture, and environment among others. While the competition for landing a job with JICA can be fierce, experts with the right qualifications and skills can find positions ranging from entry-level roles to the more advanced. If you are interested in working at JICA, check out some invaluable tips from current and former employees of this development agency.
Only 16% of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are on track to be fully implemented by 2030, the United Nations has acknowledged in its annual Sustainable Development Report. It warned that none of the 17 SDGs will be met by the target date of 2030, and some SDGs are reversing progress.
Have you ever thought about how your DevelopmentAid member profile looks to the recruiter who is in search of candidates for a vacancy? Which do you think are the first and most important points that attract their attention? Well, since “you never get a second chance to make a first impression”, we think your profile should be the best ad of your competence and level of expertise.
Grants for Local NGOs membership plan helps NGOs and development practitioners to keep track of all the newly posted small grant opportunities in the International Development Sector.
*Who is eligible for the Grants for Local NGOs Membership?
Via this membership, NGOs with up to 10 employees can identify and track grant funding, typically with a value of up to €50,000.
