From Cincinnati to Dayton we are going to talk about all the things us locals like to do for fun around here. I have lived in the area most of my life so I think I’m a bit of an expert on this so let's get started!
Starting off our list of things to do are our Museums. Believe it or not we have several highly acclaimed museums in our area.
Museums
Let’s start in Cincinnati. First on our list is the Cincinnati Art Museum. This place is a true treasure, with over 67,000 pieces in its collection, spanning 6,000 years of world history. You’ll find everything from ancient artifacts to contemporary masterpieces. And here’s the best part—it’s free to the public. That’s right, you can spend an entire day immersed in art without spending a dime. If you’ve got kids, they’ll love the interactive family programs, and if you’re an art enthusiast, you can dive deep into their rotating exhibitions that bring global art right to our doorstep.
Next up is the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center, also in Cincinnati. This museum is not only visually stunning with its modern architecture, but it’s also deeply moving. It tells the story of the struggle for freedom from the era of slavery to modern-day human rights issues. It’s a must-visit for anyone interested in history or social justice.
Now, let’s head up to Dayton. If you're into aviation, you have to visit the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force. Dayton is known as the birthplace of aviation, thanks to the Wright brothers, and this museum honors that legacy. It’s the oldest and largest military aviation museum in the world, with over 350 aerospace vehicles and missiles on display. You can even walk inside a real Air Force One plane! It’s free to visit, and it’s the perfect day trip for families or anyone fascinated by flight.
And last, but certainly not least, the Dayton Art Institute. They’re known for their community programs, too, offering everything from art classes to special events that make it a vibrant part of the Dayton cultural scene.
