In the rapidly evolving fields of life sciences, biopharma, and health tech, staying connected through professional networks is more crucial than ever. Traditional membership organisations have long provided valuable resources, but recent years have seen the emergence of new networks that address gaps, offering fresh perspectives, targeted support, and opportunities for meaningful collaboration. Networks that are focusing more on the people, rather than on the corporations.
Networking isn't just about career growth; it's a safeguard for your professional and/or business journey. Whether you're an entrepreneur, founder, or industry professional, these communities offer essential support and connections that can make a significant difference. Let's explore some of the most impactful networks that have recently gained traction, providing real value to their members.
Founders' Social
Founders' Social, founded by Tamta Gamezardashvili , is a thriving community dedicated to empowering and connecting female founders, investors, advisors, and service providers. With over 3,000 members, this all-female network serves as a dynamic platform where like-minded, high-calibre women come together to support each other’s growth and success.
Through their events and workshops, Founders' Social fosters a culture of empowerment and mutual support. Members are encouraged to share their expertise, seek advice, and seize opportunities for professional and personal development. This network is particularly valuable for female entrepreneurs and professionals who are looking to expand their influence and impact in the industry.

CONEXEN (Connect - Exchange - Engage)
CONEXEN, a network that I proudly lead, was inaugurated in January 2022 and has quickly blossomed into a dynamic community for professionals across the healthcare spectrum. Our network brings together individuals from biopharma, life sciences, and health tech, as well as
those from non-profits, research foundations, and academic institutions.
CONEXEN is built on a philosophy of radical generosity, with a primary mission of sharing resources and fostering meaningful connections. We host local events every eight weeks across various cities in the UK, including Cambridge, Oxford, and London. These gatherings offer a unique opportunity for professionals to engage with one another, exchange ideas, and build relationships that extend beyond the events themselves.
Our community also welcomes members from angel, seed, and venture capital financing institutions, along with professionals from the healthcare media, creating a diverse and vibrant network. The events are ticketed but free from membership fees.
If you’re looking for a network that values collaboration and generosity, with a strict no-sales-pitches policy, I invite you to join us at our next event.

3. Women In Pharma
Women In Pharma is a dynamic network that was launched in 2022 by the inspiring duo Miriam Kenrick and Sarah Sowerby . What started as a casual conversation over mimosas has blossomed into a thriving think-tank and networking platform for women working in the pharmaceutical industry.

The network offers a range of opportunities, including networking events, workshops, and thought leadership initiatives. Their first campaign, #BeyondBikiniMedicine, challenges the industry to move beyond superficial approaches to women’s health, advocating for more comprehensive and inclusive research and development. Another notable initiative is their “Loose Women in Pharma” podcast series, which provides a platform for candid discussions on industry trends, challenges, and innovations.

Voyagers.io
Voyagers.io, led by David Rowan and a team of volunteers, is a global community of mission-driven founders, focusing on two key areas: health-tech, and climate-tech. This network is distinct in its approach, offering a blend of online and offline interactions that are both engaging and impactful.
The community thrives on active WhatsApp channels, online workshops, and local dinners—events that foster genuine connections among founders. These interactions are complemented by unique networking adventures, such as weekend retreats and summer co-working villas, which provide a relaxed yet focused environment for collaboration and idea exchange.

6 个月loved this post but where is the North Paula Bekinschtein, MCIM? We have a vibrant hub and networking north of Cambridge and Oxford! We have recently published a blog about the lifesciences corridor in Cheshire and the related ecosystem (read it here https://blog.scottpr.com/blog/northwest-england-the-heart-of-innovative-life-sciences-sites) I'd recommend NorthWest Women in STEM as a good starting point, this is a recent group and still very young but worth flagging.

6 个月Great article Paula. Thank you for mentioning Women in Pharma. Two years ago Miriam Kenrick and I could never have guessed that we would have built such a fabulous community. Speaking personally, I am in lots of work and life networks and it's like having a range of 'emergency services' to call upon for advice, connection, inspiration, growth, practical help, fun and lots more! We should all be encouraging more (meaningful) network building.
