Discourse on Natural Calamities

“Loss is nothing else but change and change is nature’s delight.” – Marcus Aurelius

Seeker: Nature’s delight creates misery for man. Man is anti-nature, so nature is

anti-human ?

Maladkar: Nature likes change and doesn’t keep it’s own leaves on trees. And don’t forget nature’s destruction from volcanoes, tsunami and earthquakes. Nature believes in recycling, man believes in hoarding. Hence you rightly say so, man is anti-nature, though being a product of nature itself. How can nature be anti-human, having given origin and birth to mankind. How can a Mother not think good of her son ? But yes, man is like the prodigal son who forgets his mother. Like the wayward son he loots nature for his own personal gain and becomes anti-nature. But mother is always forgiving and gives fruits willingly. Yet there are times when mother nature disciplines man with natural calamities, just like a good mother disciplines her son. It is not that the mother dislikes her son, but because of love she disciplines him. So also the nature disciplines the man with so-called tragedies. When the disaster occurs, we conveniently forget who started it all, who brought out the destruction, who needed to be disciplined. We see the results, not the cause ! Always believe in nature’s goodness. Patience is nature’s pace / So why be in a race ? / All situations bravely brace / With a smile on your face / And a belief in His grace / Of saving you from any mess !! Get out of your own way, have nature’s way instead ! Neale Donald Walsch so rightly said, “Quantum physics tell us that nothing that is observed is unaffected by the observer.” That statement, from science holds an enormous and powerful insight. It means that everyone sees a different truth, because everyone is creating what they see. They conveniently overlook the destruction they are causing to nature. Socrates so aptly said, “He is richest who is content with the least, for content is the wealth of nature.” So let us be content with what we have. In fact, we should always think how we can always give back to nature. Give back as you came with nothing and will go with nothing !!
