Discourse on Final Moments

Seeker: I had a friend who worked at a hospice, and he said people in their final moments don’t discuss their successes, awards or what books they wrote or what they accomplished.?They only talk about their loves and their regrets, and I think that’s very telling.?Can you elaborate it please ?

Maladkar:.Yes, when the final moments come what will matter to you is what actually ‘matters’ to you.?What ‘matters’ to you is the love and affection that you give and you get.?You will think, ‘wish I had given him or her more love than what I have given, but now it is too late, the time is measured.’?You will regret not giving unmeasured love while loving in a measured way.?Both your breath and time are measured from the day you are born but then regrets will be unmeasurable till the day you are no more.?So isn’t it wise to give when you can??But if you expect love in return you will again regret, so I recommend to keep on giving without expectation.?Expectations lead to lesser happiness as exemplified by the Dutch, who having less expectations are amongst the happiest people of the world.?You have to love and give with all your heart.?This love can be for a passion, a person, a hobby and whatever you actually love doing and what actually makes you joyous.?Your giving can be for your loved ones or absolute strangers who have no idea of your doing.?In fact, the doing for the latter will give you more satisfaction than giving to known ones.?You have to leave behind after all, the rewards, the accolades, the bank balance, the property, just about everything.?What you take with you and what you really leave behind are memories.?So doesn’t it make sense to make the memories good and lasting.?Leaving good memories will leave good imprint on your heart and leave you satisfied, and you will not regret for anything materialistic that is left behind.?When you close your eyes once for the final time, a smile will envelop your face and you will die with the thought that your life was well lived and well deserved.?Otherwise, like a worm you will live and die.?What is the use??Live and die like you are supposed to, like a good human being.

Seeker: ??But then, if it is your calling, then it will keep calling you, isn’t it ?

Maladkar: Yes, you attract what you think about.?You bring into your life, what you desire with all your heart.?If your desire is for higher goals, then the Universe will seek and guide you on the path towards the same.?You will get signs that now is the time to seek spiritual pleasures and not go after materialistic pleasures.?Materialistic pleasures are always temporary and new ones re-arise after they are fulfilled.?There is simply no end.?But if your calling is for spiritual pleasures, you will go deep into it and realize unlimited pleasures which are permanent in nature.?You would have evolved to your highest being and become what you are supposed to become – That !?Life is cycle of ups and downs, pleasures and pains but once you break this rigmarole and go after the Ultimate pleasure and once your calling has reached your heart it is matter of time that your soul will be one with your highest goal.?So remain focused on your goal, pay heed to your calling, pay heed to the signs that you keep on getting and taking you up the spiritual ladder.?Walk on the path to be That.
