Are you feeling overwhelmed by the constant buzz of technology and demands on your executive role? Then it may be time to take a digital detox timeout. That’s right turn off your phone, computer, TV, and even the radio and take time to do the inner work.
There are incredible benefits to your health, wealth, and business even if you just unplug for a day. ?Let’s explore just a few of the benefits that unplugging can do for you.
Reset Priorities
Sometimes in life, we are just too close to the situation and need to take the time to zoom out to see the bigger picture. Detaching from the digital world allows you the space and time to reassess and reset your priorities. Evaluate your goals, align them with your values, then recommit to the things that matter most to you and your best life.
Reflect on Personal Growth
Use this time to assess your personal and professional journey. This is the time to grab your journal and document your thoughts, aspirations and lessons learned. Reflecting on your experiences can bring clarity, inspiration and a renewed sense of purpose. ?
Embrace the Adventure Within
Adventure is not just found in external experiences but also within yourself. Challenge your comfort zones, try new activities, and nurture your sense of curiosity. Let your digital detox become the catalyst for personal growth and a reminder of the incredible adventures life has to offer.
Embrace your Senses

When you disconnect from digital distractions your senses come alive. Breathe in the fresh air, listen to the sounds of chirping birds, and feel the earth beneath your feet as you explore. Notice how your taste buds are heightened, and your eyes see the world a little differently. Allow yourself to fully engage with the world around you and appreciate the present moment.
Creative Exploration?
Embrace the art of getting lost in creativity. Engage in activities like painting, writing, even taking a pottery class or writing a poem. Allow yourself to wander through new creative territories and unlock fresh perspectives that will fuel innovation in your life and business. ?
Now I know what you may be thinking, disconnecting is just too hard to do. I guarantee you, it’s easier than you think and the benefits to your health, wealth, and relationships are felt immediately. So here are some things to consider before signing off and embarking on your digital detox:
1)?????Set Clear Goals: Define what you want to achieve on your digital detox. What areas of your life would you like to focus on? This is about getting clear on how to step into the best version of yourself in areas such as business, health, and relationships. Plan ahead activities that match your intentions. This is an important step so you don’t get distracted and reach out to the digital world.
2)?????Inform Others: Communicate your plans with your team, family, and clients. As you share your intentions what will surprise you the most is how supportive everyone will be towards your goals.
3)?????Plan Engaging Activities: Make your digital detox fun and adventurous. Embrace activities like journalling, hiking, meditation, and exploring new places. But don’t forget to plan how to get there in advance as you won’t have the benefit of using GPS to get there. Embrace the possibility of getting lost as it is only when you are lost that you can be found.
I ?write this article as I am about to sign off for my non-negotiable annual digital detox week, this year I will be exploring the rolling hills of Ireland while I explore and do the inner deep work on myself.
