Disciplined Thinking!

I have been lately getting active on Twitter and LinkedIn. There are multiple reasons, one is a fascination with the platforms themselves, and the next is the ability to network with so many like-minded people, professionals from the same line of work, and follow a lot of high-thinkers. Above all the most important reasons are Learning and Inspiration.?

As I was scrolling through Twitter without a purpose, I happened to pass through a tweet that caught my attention. It read?"Writing is Disciplined Thinking".?I was really engrossed in that Tweet and started contemplating the meaning and reasons for the statement.?

Writing is Disciplined Thinking

It is when I realized the power of writing and saw the potential for a new blog.?

I was seeking answers from within while asking myself multiple questions like "Why did you start writing ?", "What benefits did you get from writing?" , "How did it impact your life? ". My mind went crazy with a mountain of answers and I felt writing about it should bring me back to sanity.?

Here are a few answers from within :?

Since I started writing I was able to see things clearly and make sense of my thoughts. Connecting the dots became much simpler and it gave me a structure to think clearly. I used tools to track this (which I will write about in my upcoming blogs). One tool revealed the fact that I was spending more time thinking compared to the time I spent doing the actual task in certain cases. The numbers were alarming!!!

My numbers clearly suggested that I am more of a thinker than a doer in certain cases. If I consent to a task, I usually spend a lot of time thinking about ways to get it done or thinking about the outcome. When I started writing, the time that I took to think reduced drastically because my brain now knows that I have made the idea concrete and it is on paper now. Think of it like a hack. Since I realized the benefits of such a hack, I started writing or noting down things on paper later transferring them to an App. That is when I started writing down my Goals, Tasks, Gratitude notes, Daily Journals, Blogs, Ideas, Mind-maps, Budgeting, etc...

I am now able to attribute writing as a complement to developing many other skills like critical thinking, Time management, Decision making, Planning, clear Communication, Networking, Emotional Intelligence, and many more.?

One of the apprehensions I had before I could start writing which I am sure most people have is - This would consume more time. Believe me, that is not the case. I now understood that the time spent writing is way less compared to the time spent thinking or brooding over something. One real example was when I decided to start writing blogs. I thought blog writing is something that would take a lot of time, but it turned out quite the opposite. Every time it takes me less than 30 minutes to write and revise a single blog.?

I sincerely believe that writing is helping me to stress less about things probably because of the discipline that it gives to my thinking and guess that is why I could resonate deeply with that tweet I read -?"Writing is Disciplined Thinking".?

If you decide to start writing after reading my #linkedinnewsletter or are already writing, do share your thoughts on writing with me ??
