By virtue of my consistent engagement and working with young people, one significant challenge that often arises is their lack of discipline. Youth are filled with energy and a desire to have things their own way. Discipline is a critical trait that must be instilled in each gamer, and it can be achieved by upholding the rules, regulations, systems, and structures of esports. Esports can serve as a corrective tool for youth, providing them with an outlet to channel their energy, passion, and time. By prioritizing discipline, we can prevent negative, self-destructive tendencies in young individuals.

1. Leadership by Example:

Leading by example is a powerful measure of cultivating discipline among youth in the world of esports. As mentors, coaches, administrators, and adult figures within the esports community, it is essential to embody the principles of discipline ourselves. When young gamers witness responsible behaviour, punctuality, adherence to rules, and respectful communication from their role models, they are more likely to emulate these qualities.

Demonstrating discipline in our own actions and decisions sets a standard for the youth to follow. It means showing up on time, respecting tournament guidelines, and maintaining a positive and sportsmanlike attitude during competitions. When young gamers see that their leaders practice what they preach, they are more likely to understand the importance of discipline and strive to emulate it themselves.
