Why We May Need to Stop Glorifying Discipline
Everyone’s always preaching, "Discipline over motivation."
Don’t get me wrong, I follow a disciplined approach to my life, and it’s working fine.
But here's my take — discipline is overrated sometimes, and frankly, it kills the magic of life.
Hear me out.
People act like discipline is this holy grail. "Just grind it out, push through, even when you don’t feel like it."
But why would I want to live in a world where I’m constantly forcing myself to do things I’m not excited about?
That sounds miserable.
If you need to bully yourself into doing something every day, maybe it’s a sign you’re on the wrong path.
Motivation isn’t unreliable; it’s your compass.
I know motivation gets a bad rap for being "fleeting" or "unreliable."
Sure, it ebbs and flows, but that’s its beauty — it’s a signal, a signpost.

If I’m not motivated, I’m not aligned.
It’s time to reassess, not double down, and force myself to stay in the grind.
Why not tap into the natural energy that comes when you’re genuinely excited about something?
For me, it’s helping people solve problems in business or their lives, so I show up even when there’s nothing at stake.
Here’s the real truth no one tells you: when you’re motivated, discipline isn’t even needed.
When you’re motivated, things just flow.
You don’t need to drag yourself to the gym, to your desk, or to the next meeting.
You want to show up.
If you’re always relying on discipline, ask yourself, "Am I doing the right thing? Or just checking boxes in life?"
Stop making discipline this virtue to chase. Chase the things that light you up.
Discipline to action and consistency will naturally follow when that light shines.
