Discipline, Volume #03: the Architecture Student publication at ASU

Discipline, volume #03 is out! This is the Architecture Student publication from the AIAS students at The Design School at ASU.

Today, we are proud to announce the release of the third annual volume of Discipline, the Architecture Journal for Arizona State University (ASU), produced and edited entirely by students from the American Institute of Architecture Students (AIAS) Chapter. I want to extend special thanks to soon-to-be Master of Architecture graduate Cathleen Kebert, who has now played a leadership role in the production of all three volumes to-date. This year Cathleen led a student committee, including Brittany Bailey, Nika Pniak, and Brandon Powell.

Highlights in this year's issue include:

+ Fall 2016 Global Engagement Studio led by Professor Darren Petrucci with the support of ASU's Biomimicry Center, the ASU Global Institute of Sustainability, and Kamehameha Schools, and the University of Hawaii - Hilo.

+ Land Art Generator competition entry by alumni team: Santiago Tolosa (now at LOHA), Li Hailong (now at RoTo Architects), and Roman Cervantes (now at HLW), which was featured on DesignBoom this Fall

+ Winning and placing entries from this year's Arizona Residential Architects (ARA) Student Competition.

+ Photos from 2016 Sean Murphy Travel Scholar, Josh Greene's travels to Chile; and 2016 Class of '77 Travel Scholar Thomas Ibrahim's travels to post-Soviet Georgia

+ Volunteer work from Josh Greene and Nicole Bone with the International Rescue Committee, Nature Conservancy, City of Phoenix, and Water Management Group on community project, CamelBackyard.

+ AIA Phoenix Metro Chapter This is Phoenix competition entry by alumni team: Spencer Bates (now at HKS), Aaron Cleveland (now at Davis Brody Bond), and Gautam Palav (now at Utile).

+ ASU Biophilia Contest entry called Teddy Bear Pavilion by Dash Bernhard, Maurice Calvendra, Thomas Frampton, Emery Karenzi, and Chantal Mahoro.

+ Another amazingly successful Studio Nights event at The Design School at ASU, in which more than 85 professionals came from all over Phoenix, and from several other states, to interview our students for professional experience opportunities.

+ Faculty member Claudio Vekstein's recently completed Montessori School project in the city of Lujan in Buenos Aires province.

You can find all three volumes of the publication on The Design School's ISSUU platform. We look forward to the continued documentation of the work and experiences of our students, faculty, alumni, and professional community in future years. Please consider following The Design School on ISSUU for this and other publications of our work.
