A Disaster Without FEMA

A friend told me about a movie titled, “A Day Without a Mexican.” Which made me think about the prospect of “A Disaster without FEMA.” ?

?There would be little impact to the federal government, other than eliminating around 20,000 full and part-time jobs. If there was no federal disaster aid in the form of dollars spent, it will save billions and make Mr. Musk very happy in adding to the total that he claims has been saved as costs to the United States treasury.

?It accurately reflects the strains and stresses that eliminating FEMA could cause to other jurisdictions outside of the federal government. Note that, President Trump once again called for the elimination of FEMA just this past Tuesday. I keep hearing the refrain of, “That can’t legally be done without congressional approval.” Hmm. In another posting on Truth Social the President wrote this, “He who saves his Country does not violate any Law.”

?There have been other presidents who have been called the “Imperial Presidency” but, I think we are living in that era defined by a new maximum of maximums. Here’s one definition, “According to professor of political science Thomas E. Cronin, author of The State of the Presidency, "imperial presidency" is a term used to define a danger to the American constitutional system by allowing presidents to create and abuse presidential prerogatives during national emergencies.”
