Disabling on board devices for use on secure work sites.

Do you work on secure sites, or have a customer that faces this hurdle? Many times, these sites prohibit the use of some of the standard functions that are part of today's data collector units. With the help of a dear friend of mine, Tom Watson, we have been able to bend the Windows environment just enough to pass the sniff test. Please note, I am a long way from giving advice on anything IT related. I am only presenting to you an option that has been successful for a handful of situations.

You upgraded your hardware, and now we get to send it back in time. Indeed we are time travelers, tasked with conforming to a security requirement. Cameras, Bluetooth, WiFi, are understandably frowned upon in most secure areas. However, if you look at today's data collection offerings then you'd probably be considering a pencil right about now. Most of the devices we are looking to control with the data collector can be cabled for communication purposes. GPS, total stations, etc,. The challenge is the rest of the devices on the controllers, and how to make them remain quiet.

Here is one option for doing that, specifically in the Windows 10 environment. Enjoy your time traveling, remember to wear your safety belt.
