Disability Recruitment and DE&I Recap - 2nd October 2024

?? Scheme to Help young people into work:

A new initiative aimed at supporting young disabled individuals in their transition to employment has been launched by local councils in partnership with various organisations. The scheme seeks to create job opportunities and promote inclusivity in the workplace, encouraging small businesses to hire disabled candidates. With funding and tailored resources provided, this initiative aims to empower young disabled people, enhancing their prospects in the job market. Congratulations to all involved in this important effort to foster inclusivity, and we look forward to seeing its positive impact in the years to come! (Source)

?? Long-term sickness benefit claimants should actively seek work:?

Prime Minister Keir Starmer suggests that all long-term sickness benefit claimants should actively seek work. This proposal raises concerns about potential policy changes that could impact disabled people. While Starmer emphasises the importance of support, his comments have been criticised, particularly regarding their implications for the disabled community. (Source)

??Virgin Media 02 partners with Evenbreak to hire more disabled talent.??

Great to see the scheme in Kent underway and Virgin Media 02 advertising on Evenbreak Jane. I urge all employers who want to be fair to disabled people in the UK to look into advertising their vacancies on Evenbreak
