A disability Justice Perspective
A disability Justice Perspective
I like how we state that in Disability Justice, "we ‘hold a vision born out of collective struggle drawing upon the legacies of cultural and spiritual resistance within a thousand underground paths, igniting small persistent fires of rebellion in everyday life” As we begin deconstructing and reconstructing societies where everyone regardless of their disability is a valued member. Through disability studies I discovered how the narrative of disabled people begins to shift from pity, needy to legacies of resistances, activism etc. While disability pride movement have also brought us to a place where we begin to challenge the notion or “normal” as the measurement by which everyone else is judged to a place of reclaiming our bodies and gaining pride in both the pains and pleasures associated with disabilities like every other bodies.
